Quevega is on the drift
A lay for day one of the Festival from the FTM boys...
We jump to the David Nicholson Mares Hurdle at 16.40 for the lay of the day where what many consider to be the banker of the Meeting, Quevega, has demonstrated some weakness in the market in drifting from [1.93] out to [2.26]. Whilst it is difficult to get away from the winner of the last two runnings of this race, she does have to prove that she can once again perform after a lengthy absence (327 days this time as opposed to 296 days last year) and she may, in Sparky May and L'Accordioniste, have a couple of rivals capable of pushing her to the limit. Indeed, one has to ask the question as to whether Sparky May would be a little closer in the market (currently [4.9]) had she been trained by say Paul Nicholls or Nicky Henderson as opposed to the relatively unknown (certainly when it comes to Cheltenham winners anyway) Pat Rodford and it is perhaps, for that reason, backers are looking elsewhere for a bit of value.
