Today's placepot attempt comes from Doncaster
"It's a slight concern Vertige Dore has been absent again since his hurdling debut success, plus he's shown the odd quirk, but it's hard to see him unplaced provided he's somewhere near his best."
We're finally on a roll, two consecutive winning placepot days, so here's hoping we can complete the hat-trick today at Doncaster...
14:10 - It's a shade disappointing Five Star Wilsham hasn't won a handicap by now, but this looks another good opening and matching his recent efforts should be enough to see him go close. Firm Order looks a sound candidate for place purposes, too, having gone up only 6 lb for a Sandown win that marked the continuation of a consistent spell.
14:40 - Jaques Vert is still improving and appeals as likely to make it three frame finishes in a row, while Donny Briggs is one of the few others with a solid recent run to his name and his debut on the Flat suggests this firmer ground than at Sedgefield won't trouble him.
15:15 - Presenting Forever looked way ahead of his mark at Cheltenham when last seen and his absence since could well mean he's been laid out for this. He's the one to beat, with 'saver' preference for likely pace-setter Minella Four Star ahead of improving Always Right only marginal.
15:50 - It's a slight concern Vertige Dore has been absent again since his hurdling debut success, plus he's shown the odd quirk, but it's hard to see him unplaced provided he's somewhere near his best. Brother Bob also has an absence to overcome, yet he's still more solid than the rest as an alternative place option.
16:25 - Both Montbazon and Holme Rose have had only one start to date, meaning some guesswork is involved when assessing how likely they are to progress, but the pair stand a little ahead of the remainder on ratings and it'll be a shock if neither hits the three.
17:00 - It's time to be brave, assuming we've got this far that is. In short, Lake Legend will surely have to fall to not beat such a suspect trio and it's worth avoiding Placepot convention by banking in a four-runner race rather than taking all four.
