"Sail Home didn’t need to improve when off the mark in a maiden here back in January, but her form when runner-up to the highly progressive Luck of The Draw the time before looks strong, and suggests a mark of 65 is probably within her scope."

Southwell is the venue for today's placepot...

13:30 - Three places on offer here (at least at the time of writing), so it looks a good opportunity to bank on Fifth In Line. She ran poorly for the first time in her life over seven furlongs last time, but the return to six will more than likely see her bounce back to form, in which case she'll be hard to keep out of the three, even if she finds one too good again.

14:00 - Feet of Fury is 11 lb higher now than when hacking up over C&D last time, but that form has some substance, and she's worth taking to confirm that improvement on just her fourth start for Ian Williams. There's no harm in taking out some insurance, so we'll ignore Ruth Carr's losing run that stretches back to August and include Tomintoul Star, who has never finished out of the three at Southwell.

14:30 - Two places on offer in this maiden, and hopefully Eilean Mor will fill one of them, consistent as he is, and likely to appreciate the step up to seven furlongs too.

15:00 - Sail Home didn't need to improve when off the mark in a maiden here back in January, but her form when runner-up to the highly progressive Luck of The Draw the time before looks strong, and suggests a mark of 65 is probably within her scope.

15:30 - The form of San Antonio's win here on his penultimate start is backed up by a good time, so he's well worth including, officially 6 lb well in under a penalty and having run well since under an inexperienced rider at Kempton. Mr Emirati isn't obviously one of the better handicapped runners, but he does still have a bit of potential, having chased home a subsequent winner here in December on just his fifth career start.

16:00 - Guto is on a long losing run, but he didn't disgrace himself here last time and is one of surprisingly few course winners in the line-up. Cavitie is another reasonably solid one on his return from a short break, while we can probably afford a more speculative selection in We'll Deal Again, who though essentially disappointing, has several pieces of form to make him of interest at this level.
