Saving your pennies for Cheltenham? Thought so. Exeter's likely to boast a big pool but will take plenty of lines to crack, so we're going to try and knock it out of the park at Newcastle instead.

14:20 - It's difficult to make a case for anything other than Jukebox Melody, Lucky Sunny and Next To Nowhere in the opener. The last-named was essentially just gaining experience on his hurdling debut and may have similar motives here, while Jukebox Melody has something to prove after a disappointing first outing over timber, so for all there are misgivings over Lucky Sunny's attitude it's virtually impossible to see him out of the three.

14:50 - We may be playing a tight game today, but banking is not an option in what is a pretty desperate handicap. Final Veto isn't reliable but went with a lot more verve before unseating at the seventh on his previous start, while Overyou has excuses for her flop last time and was runner-up to the progressive Night In Milan over course and distance the time before.

15:20 - The handbook procedure for four-runner races is to duck the issue and take them all. This flies in the face of our light-perm philosophy, but try as we might we just can't rule any of them out, so all four must go in.

15:50 - It's been a tough year for the burgeoning William Amos yard, but Willie Hall ran a sound race at Kelso on his handicap debut last month (runner-up to Circus Clown) and a repeat of that form will surely see him make the first two again.

16:20 - There's little strength in depth to this novice, so even though Diamond d'Amour has struggled to see things out on both starts to date it's hard to envisage him out of the places, especially with the prospect of an uncontested lead over a trip he's bred to be suited by.

16:50 - Plenty arrive in this handicap in decent heart, but this is a day to be frugal and we think there's something of a good thing buried in there, anyway. Beamazed took to chasing like a duck to water when winning at Carlisle last month and we see a 5 lb rise for that success as generous to say the least considering he and runner-up Master Eddy drew well clear of the remainder. The Jefferson yard are having a good season too, so Beamazed is our idea of the winner let alone one to place.
