Leafy Lingfield

"York Glory shaped extremely well when third on his debut over seven furlongs last month... and is open to well above-average improvement, which would probably see him win this comfortably"

We're kicking off the month with a tilt at the Lingfield Placepot...

14:10 - Quite a competitive handicap, so it's unlikely that Bodie will have enough in hand to win unless learning to settle, but even so he looks fairly solid Placepot material, making the three on both of his last two starts, albeit at Wolverhampton. This trip and possibly beyond should suit Echos of Motivator this year, so he's well worth a chance to come on for his fairly encouraging return over course and distance a fortnight ago.

14:40 - With just five going to post now, we can be fairly confident of A Little Bit Dusty making the first two, his record at this level most solid and his form superior to that of any of his rivals. The longer trip shouldn't be a problem around here, especially with the realistic prospect of him being granted an uncontested lead.

15:10 - Just the six line up, but even so they look quite evenly matched and we're going to need a couple to get us through. Satwa Gold is a natural inclusion, his handicap mark edging down all the while and his last run at Kempton suggesting he's working his way back into form. His running style should also suit Lingfield, his record over shorter trips here seeming to back that up. One with an even better recent record around here however is Frameit, and although his last run suggests he's just about in the grip of the handicapper at present his consistency counts for plenty, especially for our purposes.

15:45 - It's hard to ignore Bollywood Style, who shaped quite well over six furlongs here last time and will likely be suited by returning to this trip. Her prize reflects as much however, so we're also going to throw in a couple of more left-field choices in the hope of possibly getting a result. Spinning Ridge has dropped to a good mark now and has hinted at a revival on a couple of occasions this season, including on a rare fibresand outing last time. Ymir may have had circumstances in his favour when belatedly getting off the mark last time, but there's not a great deal of competition for the lead here and he's been raised a far-from-penal 4 lb for that success.

16:20 - It's the usual ploy with a four-runner field to weed out those who can't win rather than search for those who can. Big City Boy hasn't beaten a rival in three starts to date, so Viking Dancer, Bosambo and Uncle Dermot all make the cut.

16:55 - We've not exactly been frugal so far, but fear not as there's a banker in the last. York Glory shaped extremely well when third on his debut over seven furlongs last month (the aforementioned Bosambo finished second, incidentally) and is open to well above-average improvement, which would probably see him win this comfortably, Queen of The Desert the only realistic danger.

Selections:

14:10 - 1, 2

15:10 - 1, 6
15:45 - 3, 7, 9
