It's been a while since the Placepot was thrust this way, but there's always the chance the combination of fresh and Ayr will do the trick.

14:20 - Three of these stand out as arriving in top form, though Transact has struggled for consistency so far and both Overyou and Classic Henri, runner-up at Newcastle and Sedgefield respectively on their most recent outing, provide more solid cases.

14:50 - Flinty Bay could still go a fair way over hurdles when upped in trip, though anything approaching a repetition of the form he's shown around two miles so far (including in a handicap) will see him placed in this.

15:25 - Another obvious, worthy favourite so say hello to, but there's mileage in a different strategy with Rival d'Estruval - include him, add a line on 'unnamed favourite' (surely also him) to boost returns, and take bumper runner-up Inoogoo as insurance.

15:55 - Sheriff Hall appeals as the type to take to chasing and boasts some strong hurdling form in the context of this race, though there's always a doubt with a newcomer to fences and the likelihood is that in-form duo Tartan Snow and Earl Grez will make their presence felt.

16:30 - Lampion du Bost has plenty in his favour, including the longer trip, further drop in his mark and the booking of Graham Lee, while it would be no surprise to see Aghill put a below-par effort behind him - there doesn't look to be much wrong with the latter's previous Musselburgh success.

5.00 - Several of these are bordering on useless, which makes this final leg a shade easier; Special Portrait is a winning pointer who landed a Hexham hunter in the spring, and Noir Et Vert isn't the force of old but has still been able to finish second four times in points.
