The Brigadier goes back to the all-weather in search of winning lays...
21:20 Wolverhampton - LAY - Grand Assault (Forecast - 2.5)
Today's race is the 21:20 at Wolverhampton, it's a class 6 maiden over 5 furlongs 216 yards. Grand Assault is forecast favourite, trained by G C Bravery and ridden by Adam Kirby.
But this Grand Assault remains a cretinous maiden after eight races, finishing unplaced on six occasions.
He pulls hard and isnt easy to settle, which will not help him lose his maiden tag.
In three races at Wolverhampton he has always been unplaced. He has raced over trips ranging from 7 furlongs to 1m 1½ furlongs.
Dropping down to this trip for the first time, he is unlikely to have the speed needed. He has been outpaced in races over seven furlongs so this trip will expose his lack of pace even more.
At four-years-of age he is the oldest horse in the field and his 3yo rivals have more scope for improvement.
The Carpet Man is likely to run a big race but I will be laying the speed-challenged, hard-pulling swine 'Grand Assault'.

20:20 Kempton - LAY - Regale Royale (Forecast - 2.8)
Today's race is the 20:20 at Kempton, it's a class 7 classified stakes over six furlongs. Regale Royale is forecast favourite, trained by Peter Grayson and ridden by L Keniry.
This race is filled with some of the most disgraceful and talentless rogues in the game. Regale Royale has won just once in 26 starts and that was on his debut back in July 2006. Its been all downhill since, he is even worse on polytrack than he is on turf and his record on the A/W is 14 runs without ever being placed.
The only previous time he ran over C&D he finished in last place. He is probably a better horse over further and is always likely to be outpaced over six furlongs. Trainer Peter Grayson rarely does well at Kempton and has had just four winners from 76 runners here.
Strut The Stage and Ginger Pop should both go well but I will be laying the horrific polytrack hound 'Regale Royal'.
Today's lay finished third

15:20 Sedgefield - LAY - Miss Pross (Forecast - 3.5)
Today's race is the 15:20 at Sedgefield, it's a class 4 handicap hurdle over 2 mile 1 furlong. Miss Pross is forecast favourite, trained by T D Walford and ridden by Robert Walford.
Miss Pross likes it round Sedgefield and has won three out of five races here. However she looks too high in the handicap at present with a rating of 106 and was beaten off this mark last time. This is her second run back after eight months off track and it may come a bit soon for her and cause her to run flat.
She has never won on good-sft in four runs and has only managed to win once in 19 runs over hurdles. 11-10 is the most weight she has ever carried and she looks vulnerable today.
It's an open looking race but I will be laying the cretinous 'Miss Pross'.
Today's lay finished fourth

14:40 Wolverhampton - LAY - Red Blossom (Forecast - 2.5)
Today's race is the 14:40 at Wolverhampton, it's a class 5 maiden over 1 mile, 141 yards. Red Blossom is forecast favourite, trained by Sir Mark Prescott and ridden by Jamie Mackay.
Red Blossom is a complete and utter shambles of a racehorse and this is her 11th attempt this year at winning a class 5 maiden. She has so far always failed and I can see no reason to suspect she will change things today. She looks to be an ungenuine rogue who finds nothing in the closing stages of her races and seems determined not to get her head in front.
Connections have tried blinkers, visors, heavy ground, fast ground, good ground and polytrack but still they can't get a win for her. This is her 11th race since June and her busy schedule will catch up with her sooner or later.
Run For Edes is also a 10 raced maiden - however she's been running well in handicaps, is more battle hardened and is a better proposition than Red Blossom. The newcomer 'Ready To Crown' would not need to be anything special to win this race but I will be laying the queen of the cretins, 'Red Blossom'.
Today's lay finished first
