VERDICT:
LYRIC POET is hardly an original selection - when a horse wins a flat race by 17 lengths he doesn't avoid too many notebooks. He gets a 6lb penalty for his Wolverhampton success (tongue tied for the first time) and as a result faces a massive hike up the weights at the weekend so this maybe the last chance for a while to catch him so well ahead of the handicapper. There are question marks - most notably the switch back to turf but on balance the current odds look good value.
