There are three Graded contests at Navan on Sunday and we have come up with two to oppose and one to back....

It may pay to oppose Torphichen in the Flyingbolt Novice Chase at 14:20. Edward O'Grady's charge didn't find as much as seemed likely when third to Realt Dubh at Leopardstown last time and the combination of heavy ground and stiff track won't play to his strengths There isn't much to choose between Torphichen and Saludos on form, whilst Lastoftheleaders, Uncle Tom Cobley and Montan are all up to making their presence felt at this level.

Dantes King was a costly failure at Naas last time but looks well worth another chance in a race which can quickly be whittled down to just a handful of realistic contenders. A point winner around this time last year, Dantes King also attracted support when fourth to Shot From The Hip in a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown on his racecourse debut. That form has worked out well and Gordon Elliott's gelding is open to more improvement than Lean Times and Dun Masc, whilst Avoca King has a lengthy absence to overcome.

Guestofthenation put up his best performance over hurdles when second at Limerick last time, but that form has taken a few knocks since and he may struggle to even get placed from a 6 lb higher mark on this occasion. A mile winner on the Flat in his juvenile days, the son of Gulch didn't appear to fully see things out when fifth to Lucky Spring over this course and distance on his penultimate start. Odonimee, Lisrenny Lady and Kirbybroguelantern all like to go from the front so the emphasis is sure to be on stamina and it is worth pointing out that Guestofthenation ran badly on his only previous try in headgear. A place lay of Joanna Morgan's gelding is advised.
