Carl Harris was planning on spending the day preparing for a week of fine racing at Ascot without having a punt on today's racing. Until he saw a certain price on a certain horse...
Today is form study and Royal Ascot preparation which involves stocking up with cold drinks and snacks for a week of sensational flat racing. A real feast of top class action awaits punters and I had every intention of not placing any wagers today.
That was until I had a look at the prices on Betfair and I think that the odds offered about Lady Deauville (8.10) at Warwick are too good to ignore and she looks overpriced based on her form. The Warwickshire Oaks is a decent prize with listed status that represents a drop in class for Roger Curtis's filly. She last won in listed company at Ayr in September but has been campaigned at a higher level, including a French group one, since. Any rain throughout the day would help but there is some value to be had in both the win and place markets irrespective of the heavens opening.
Lady Deauville is a prolific listed winner and if the ground proves unsuitable then I am sure she will be withdrawn, but should she run, I expect her to be in the shakeup.
8.10 Warwick- Lady Deauville win and place @ [7.2]
