Workforce is the new favourite for the Betfair sponsored King George at Ascot
Sir Michael Stoute's Workforce trades as favourite on Betfair for the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday...
Seven runners have been declared for the Ascot showpiece on Saturday, including John Gosden's King Edward VII winner Nathaniel, who has been supplemented at a cost of £75,000, but it is Sir Michael Stoute's Derby and Arc hero Workforce who has been attracting all the support, backed into [3.1] while long-time market leader St Nicholas Abbey has drifted out to [3.15].
A combination of rain-softened ground and a positive gallop report have seen Workforce's odds contract on Betfair, with the Khalid Abdulla-owned colt, who was narrowly beaten by So You Think in the Eclipse last time, having been backed at as high as [21.0] at one stage.
Mahmood Al Zarooni has declared Debussy as well as his main hope Rewilding [4.4], who defeated the aforementioned So You Think in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at the Royal meeting last time. Aidan O'Brien's Seville and Sir Henry Cecil's Midday complete the entries.
