After the excitement of Whistling Straits, the PGA Tour is set for more traditional fare this weekend at the Wyndham Championship. Paul Krishnamurty selects the best bets.

Betting in the week following a major can be a precarious business. Luckily this week's PGA Tour event, while lacking anything close to the quality seen over the past fortnight, is one I've been looking forward to for several weeks.

This particular interest in the Wyndham Championship was initially sparked by one of Stephen Rawling's columns, noting that there may be a correlation between form here and another Donald Ross designed venue, Aronimink, which hosted the AT & T National. Further pointers then appeared in the form of results at another couple of recent PGA Tour venues, St George's and the Old White Course, respectively hosts to the Canadian Open and Greenbrier Open.

The key similarity between all four courses is their age. The golfing history of each pre-dates the 1930s, representing a more traditional test of golf than would otherwise be the norm on the PGA Tour. Commentators made frequent reference to these similarities throughout each event, and there indeed appeared to be a significant correlation between the form. In addition to Find Me a 100 Winner pick Michael Letzig, here's six players who appear to have the pedigree to thrive at Sedgefield.

Carl Pettersson [24.0]

No player illustrates the correlation in form better than Pettersson. His last two tournament victories came on this course in 2008, and in that recent Canadian Open at St George's. He was also sixth at Aronimink, and maintained his good run with a top-25 in the USPGA.

Ryan Moore [24.0]

Moore didn't play in either the Canadian or Greenbrier Opens, but has rock-solid pedigree on the two Donald Ross courses. He is defending champion at Sedgefield, and finished runner-up at Aronimink.

Brandt Snedeker [34.0]

Snedeker won this event before it moved to Sedgefield, and showed his liking for this course with fifth last year. He also made the top-20 at Aronimink and on the Old White Course.

JJ Henry [50.0]

JJ's Sedgefield form dates back to the previous century, when finishing fourth in the 1999 Nationwide Tour event on this course. He repeated that finish two years ago in the Wyndham, and wasn't disgraced in 24th and 36th at Aronimink and the Old White Course.

Marc Leishman [65.0]

Leishman has made the top-20 in his last three attempts on these old-fashioned layouts, at the Greenbrier Open, AT & T National and this event last year.

Garrett Willis [80.0]

Another player with old Sedgefield form on the Nationwide Tour, finishing runner-up in the 1999 Greensboro Open. Willis also finished 15th here in 2008, and is on a good current streak with top-20s on four of his last six starts. One of those was at Aronimink.
