Tiger Woods will be playing his sixth Ryder Cup
Corey Pavin included world number one Tiger Woods as one of his picks when he announced his four selections this afternoon...
Tiger Woods has been included in Corey Pavin's USA Ryder Cup team as a captain's wildcard pick. Time taken away from the game as a consequence of his much-publicised personal problems and a resulting loss of form almost resulted in him losing his number one status in the official rankings but despite holding on to that position, Woods only finished 12th in the Ryder Cup standings and he was left relying on Pavin selecting him in order to participate in this year's edition of the eve-gripping Europe v USA clash. "It's great to be a part of this team, I'm honoured." was Wood's reaction to being included.
Pavin in the meanwhile justified his selection of a player whose recent form has been erratic at best and unrecognisably disappointing at worst by saying: "I was hoping he would qualify on points. He didn't but then I was just waiting to see how he was going to play. I was pleased to see him playing better. Tiger is one of 12 guys on the team and every one of them is just as important as the other players." The captain's other selections were Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler. They will join the eight who had already qualified: Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson, Jeff Overton and Matt Kuchar. Colin Montgomerie, the European captain, made his selections last Sunday.
Europe are [1.74] on Betfair to win this year's Ryder Cup with USA available at [2.74]. A tie is trading at [14.5].

Having followed Tiger's career, he justifiably earned a spot to be included --
Get behind him, he has worked hard to get where he is....stop denegrading him--look around you...he's not the Lone Ranger!
