England's world no.1 is all the rage for Open glory after defeating top-class field on the rain-hit links of Castle Stuart

Luke Donald is the major mover in the Open betting after winning the Scottish Open on the links of Castle Stuart today.

The English world no.1 has shortened from around [19.0] earlier this week to his current mark of [14.0] to triumph at The Open Championship. That looks certain to come in further still as the wider public start to strike their Royal St George's bets.

Donald has now won twice in front of the BBC cameras - from three tournaments televised this year - following his BMW PGA Championship victory at Wentworth and will undoubtedly attract plenty of the British pounds coming to the market as The Open takes centre stage in the summer sporting schedule next week.

The 33-year-old Englishman took the tournament with a -19 score across just 54 holes after rain decimated the Castle Stuart course on Friday delaying the action until Sunday morning. Donald shot a nine under par final round score of 63 after coming from a shot off the lead on the final day. Second place went to Freddie Andersson-Hed who went one shot better than the winner. Donald was matched at a high of [32.0] In-Play on Betfair after making a shaky start on Thursday morning in the first round.

Donald is in the middle of a quite remarkable year. He has missed one cut this season and - apart from finishing 45th at the US Open - has made the top ten in every other 2011 tournament. In that context, odds of [14.0] do look like value, especially when factoring in a golf game that mixes arrow-like accuracy with driver and irons and world-class short play.

Of his Royal St George's rivals, Lee Westwood ([12.0]) finished on -12 while Graeme McDowell ([36.0]) suffered a disappointing final round, finishing down the field despite starting the last day in the final group. American Matt Kuchar has shortened from around [70.0] to [46.0] after finishing ninth.

Rory McIlroy did not play this week but still heads the Open betting at [8.2], though that represents a one point drift since the beginning of this week when he traded around [7.0].
