He openly relished the challenge of seriously bad weather at St Andrews, and was in close contention before dropping back to seventh over the closing holes. Kaymer swiftly followed up with victories on another seaside layout at the KLM Open, and saved arguably his best performance of the season to win the Dunhill Links.
