Tiger Woods arrives at his own tournament off the back of a decisive Preidents Cup singles win

"Back at a course he loves the pressure is on Woods to win, anything else simply won't be good enough."

The former world no.1 hosts his own tournament this week, an 18 player invitational, and goes off the [4.5] favourite. So, is Dan Geraghty backing or laying the big man this week? Read on...

Three Against the Field returns this week as Tiger Woods [4.5] hosts and attempts to win (for the fifth time) the Chevron World Challenge, a charity tournament for 18 players with a prize fund of over five million dollars. On the face of it, this week appears the perfect opportunity for Tiger to continue his rehabilitation with a much needed 'W'.

Woods comes into the week after a successful but ultimately disappointing trip to Australia for the Australian Open and the Presidents Cup. Having blown a wonderful chance to win having hit the front at the former, he went on to lose the first two of five points available to him at the Presidents Cup before restoring his pride by destroying an in-form Aaron Baddeley during the final day's singles. His putting was fantastic that day and back at a course he loves (Sherwood Country Club) the pressure is on to win, anything else simply won't be good enough.

Should Woods triumph this week it will represent a third fantastic boost for American golf in as many weeks, meaning they go into a Ryder Cup year with great momentum. Their recent Presidents Cup victory was followed by a World Cup win at the weekend as Matt Kuchar and Gary Woodland [27.0] fought off short priced favourites Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell with relative ease.

As the higher ranked player, Kuchar got to choose his partner and he had no hesitation in opting for Woodland for whom he reserved high praise indeed: "I have no doubt that he was the best player in the field, he played some great golf".

With experience under his belt, Woodland is set for a big year next year as he looks to play himself on to his first Ryder Cup team and while he is in such good form, he can go close this week. I was surprised to find him a bigger price in the market than Kuchar ([19.0]) who finished stone-last here in 2010 and was overshadowed by his teammate at the World Cup last week.

Like Woodland, Rickie Fowler [25.0] will be disappointed not to have been involved in the recent Presidents Cup and will surely be determined to make sure he's involved at next year's Ryder Cup. Fowler finished the PGA Tour season poorly but has since gained his first professional victory when beating Rory McIlroy into second at the Korean Open. Despite not playing in the Presidents Cup he also travelled to Australia for last weeks PGA Championship and performed with credit, finishing tied for 14th.
