Jason Day is a future winner
"Surely I'm not alone in raising an eyebrow at Baddeley's odds following his recent victory at Riviera."
Paul Krishnamurty continues his search for three-figure winners with a pair of Australians at the WGC-CA Championship
In a bid to turn around an awful start to 2011, this column is banking on two classy Aussies at Doral, Jason Day and Aaron Baddeley. Both are currently available at [100.0], which must represent value if their efforts over the past month are any sort of guide.
Firstly, I make no apology for persevering with Day, just a fortnight after backing him at the World Matchplay. He is a winner waiting to happen, with an extremely bright future. Day was superb for the first couple of rounds in the Matchplay, racking up a plethora of birdies and claiming the notable scalp of Paul Casey. Had he not frustratingly been edged out on the final hole of his last-16 match, Day would have been a serious candidate for the title and probably hit our lay target.
Everything is in place for a big run at Doral, in his home state of Florida. Day's power off the tee will be a significant asset and if carrying on in that same birdie-blitzing vein, should thrive in an event where attacking play and low scoring are essential.
Surely I'm not alone in raising an eyebrow at Baddeley's odds following his recent victory at Riviera. As we saw there, the great thing about Badds is his temperament under pressure. Aaron has been winning events since his teenage amateur days, and while he has struggled for consistency, boasts an impressive return of seven professional wins, often at massive prices.
Baddeley is also well known for an extremely aggressive and quick putting routine. That can be a liability elsewhere, but Doral's greens are among the easiest on the schedule. Largely for that reason, it was no surprise to see Baddeley make the top-15 on his first two visits to Doral in 2007 and 2008.
The trading plan is to back both players for 2 units, then place a couple of lay orders to retrieve 10 units, firstly at [8.0], secondly at [3.0].
Recommended Bets:
2 units Jason Day @ 100.0
2 units Aaron Baddeley @ 100.0
Place order to lay 10 units @ 8.0
Place order to lay 10 units @ 3.0
2011 Stats: -18.5 units
