Team News

JP Duminy missed out in the first game and may be recalled to the middle order. South Africa may also consider bringing in Roelof van der Merwe if they want an extra spin option, although it is not immediately clear who they will leave out as Charl Langeveldt bowled well in Jaipur and Albie Morkel has been a key member of their one day team for some time.

India will probably not make any changes from Sunday's game, given that their batsmen performed pretty well and they are unlikely to want to go in with only two quicker bowlers. They could give Sudeep Tyagi a run, possibly at Sreesanth's expense. Their other options are spinners Amit Mishra or Ravichandran Ashwin, but they will probably feel they have sufficient part-timers to do the job.

Conditions

The game was originally due to be played at Green Park, Kanpur, at a venue that has traditionally offered something for the bowlers. But thanks to a dispute over finances, it will now be played in Gwalior, at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium. It is a generally good batting surface, although it is worth noting that no side has passed 300 here in ten one day internationals.

Match Odds

India's narrow one-run victory in Sunday's game has led to something of an overreaction in the match winners market, with South Africa as short as [1.98] favourites to take the second game of the series. I think this represents a misreading of what went on in Jaipur. A more or less full strength South Africa could not overcome a significantly weakened Indian team, despite having the advantage of batting second when the dew makes things difficult for the fielding team. The last ditch heroics of Dale Steyn and Wayne Parnell cannot disguise the fact that South Africa were on the ropes for most of the game and at [2.0] India make far more appeal as match winners.

Top Batsman

The South African top batsman market is a bit of a minefield as they have so many options that you can't be sure who will play where and too many of them are also out of form. Reliable Jacques Kallis did the business in the first game and he is the sensible choice in this market at [4.5] or better.

I still like Virat Kohli in the Indian top batsman market at [6.5] or better but at [4.5] you can't go wrong with Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Master was the only batting failure in Jaipur and will be keen to contribute in this game. He also has an excellent record at the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in recent years, scoring 97 and 100 on his last two visits.

Featured Market

The last three games at this venue have produced three centuries and three scores in the high 90s, so at [1.95] or better, it could be worth backing 'Yes' in the 'Century Scored' market.
