"At the very least King’s are in good enough form to test Bangalore for a spell which will allow us to take a small trade"

Ed Hawkins reckons the Challengers might take their foot off the gas against Punjab in Dharamsala on Tuesday

King's XI
Paul Valthaty and Shaun Marsh are in form with the bat after 62 and 46 respectively against Delhi. Spinner Piyush Chawla claimed three wickets in that game. Adam Gilchrist's form is not the best, though - he averages 18. David Hussey, who averages 10, really should make way for Ryan McLaren.

Bangalore
The brilliance of Chris Gayle in IPL4 has been breathtaking. A blitz of 38 from 12 balls on Sunday earned the Challengers a guaranteed playoff spot. Gayle is only two runs behind Valthaty as top tournament bat having played five fewer innings. Tillakaratne Dilshan is with Sri Lanka in England.

Match odds
Bangalore have won an incredible seven consecutive matches to book their finals spot and it is no surprise to see them as short as [1.57] to win this one. However, we think the time is ripe to take them on and King's fit the bill nicely at [2.60].

At the very least King's are in good enough form to test Bangalore for a spell which will allow us to take a small trade. They have won three in a row themselves to come from the pack. They have to win to keep alive their hopes and they should be more determined.

Punjab were on the receiving end of a Gayle special - he hit 107 - earlier in the tournament in a comprehensive defeat but the brain of Gilchrist must be able to come up with a plan to stifle.

Top King's XI batsman
McLaren top scored for King's (28) the last time these sides met and he could go well again if he gets the nod. Marsh is also value with Gilly and Valthaty taking up a large chunk of the book.

Best bet: back-to-lay King's @ [2.60] v Bangalore
