England celebrate the wicket of Kemal Roach as Windies collapse
England don't do easy. Andrew Strauss' troops willed themselves to a last gasp win over West Indies when defeat seemed certain - rewarding In-Play punters at a nice price
England's World Cup campaign continues but Andrew Strauss' beleaguered troops came mighty close to a defeat against West Indies today.
With four wickets remaining and just 22 runs needed for victory, Darren Sammy's men were backed at [1.14] to win on Betfair.
But in keeping with a World Cup campaign that has seen a dramatic draw against India, a victory from the dead over South Africa and crushing defeats against Ireland and Bangladesh, Andrew Strauss and co did not throw in the towel.
Their in-running backers at [8.0] must have had those positive results in mind when taking such a high price on Betfair.
The eventual 18-run win keeps England in the hunt, though they need results to go their way. But from a high of [7.0] in the qualification market - a price matched when looking doomed today - they now trade at [1.07] to make the knockout stages.
