"India never traded higher than [6.0] in Betfair's tournament winner market."
India justify tournament favouritism with a six wicket win over co-hosts Sri Lanka
India are World Cup champions after a nerveless run chase in front of their feverish fans in Mumbai.
The tournament favourites beat co-hosts Sri Lanka by six wickets during an almost stress-free procession to victory.
Captain MS Dhoni timed his return to form perfectly with his first 50 of the World Cup, including a majestic six as he hit the winning runs. Gautam Gambhir should have struck the second century of the final but was out for 97 charging down the wicket to Thisara Perera. Earlier on Mahela Jayawardene scored 103 as Sri Lanka posted a competitive total of 275.
Dhoni and Gambhir came together with India at 114 and put on a century partnership that steered the home side to relative safety.
India never traded higher than [6.0] in Betfair's tournament winner market. Sri Lanka were backed at a low of [1.6] after Lasith Malinga removed Virender Sehwag in his first over.
