Liverpool dominated their local rivals Everton to put themselves in pole position for fourth place in the Premier League and that invaluable Champions League qualification.
A is for AEK Athens. In a must win clash AEK Athens smashed top of the table Olympiacos 4-0 to force their way back into the title race. With just three games left in the season there are only two points separating the top three teams. Check out the exciting "League Winner" market on site, where it is Olympiacos that are still just favourites at [1.8].
B is for Baseball Crowd. The record attendance for a baseball game was smashed on Saturday as an incredible 115,400 people turned out to watch Boston Red Sox play the LA Dodgers in an exhibition game. The LA Memorial Coliseum was the venue for such a remarkable attendance and was a great prelude to the season which starts on Tuesday. The Red Sox will be looking to defend their title and are currently market leaders to take the World Series 2008 at [6.2].
C is for Curlin. American wonder horse Curlin lived up to his impressive reputation as he overcame a difficult draw with ease to win the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest race. His main aim now will be to retain the Breeders Cup Classic which he won so impressively last year.
D is for Derby Down. It has been a miserable season for Derby County and the inevitable was finally confirmed on Saturday as they were officially relegated from the Premier League. There are still two more teams destined for the drop and with six games to go there are still plenty of points to fight for. Check out the premier league's Relegation market for all the latest odds.
E is for Eastwood. Wolves' hitman Freddy Eastwood may not be getting much playing time for his club but he showed that he hasn't forgotten how to score goals as he recorded a brace in Wales' 2-0 win in Luxembourg. Eastwood will now be hoping that he gets a look in at Wolves as they push for a play-off spot in The Championship. If you think they can do it then check out the Top 6 Finish market for this league, where Wolves are trading at [2.5].
F is for Fernando Torres. The man just cannot stop scoring; it was Fernando Torres' 28th goal of the season that secured the 1-0 Merseyside derby win for Liverpool. The game was largely dominated by Liverpool and they will now be confident that they have secured the fourth Champions League spot for next season. Everton could still catch them but Liverpool are now only available at [1.15] to be in those top four positions.
G is for Gold. Great Britain went Gold crazy at the Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester last week. The very impressive GB team finished the Championships with nine gold medals and two silvers to top the medal table. With just months to go before the Olympics the signs are good for GB in that discipline. Watch out for all our markets on the 2008 Olympics as we build up to the big event.
H is for Huntelaar. It was a great week for Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar. The Dutch striker scored Holland's first and last goals as they came from 3-0 down to beat Austria 4-3 in midweek. Clearly buoyed by that feat Huntelaar scored another brace in Ajax's 4-2 win at Heerenveen on Saturday. That win takes Ajax to within five points of PSV in a title charge that may just have come too late.
I is for Ince. Paul Ince is proving something of a natural at football management. Cutting his teeth with League Two side MK Dons has proved to be the right move for the self proclaimed guv'nor. His MK Dons side proved just too strong in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final as they beat Grimsby Town 2-0 to claim the trophy. If you think this will be the catalyst for the MK Dons to go on and take the League Two title then check out the League Winner market, where they are currently [1.74].
J is for Jenkins. Terry 'The Bull' Jenkins was the man who finally managed to halt Phil Taylor's winning streak as he held the great man to a thrilling 7-7 draw in the Premier League last Thursday. The outright title is still in the balance and it is Phil Taylor who currently heads the market at [2.02].
K is for Kevin Thomson. In a typically fiery Old Firm encounter it was Rangers' Kevin Thomson who kept his head to score the vital goal as Rangers beat Celtic 1-0. It really was a must win game for Celtic as they now find themselves six points adrift of Rangers who also have a game in hand. Celtic could still do it but it is a hard task now, which is reflected in the league Winner market with Rangers now trading at [1.23].
L is for Lindsay Davenport. Big hitting Lindsay Davenport surprisingly swept aside the in form Ana Ivanovic with a fantastic display in the Sony Ericsson Open. Davenport showed she has still got what it takes to beat the very best in the world and she will be a danger to all this year. If you think she can capture this title then check out the Winner market, where she is currently available at [10.0].
M is for Maguire. Stephen 'On Fire' Maguire once again overcame his arch rival Shaun Murphy to claim the China Open. After a magnificent 147 break in his semi-final Maguire held his nerve in a tense final that he eventually won 10-9. Its all steam ahead now for the upcoming World Championships where Maguire is a tempting [9.8] to take the crown for the first time.
N is for Nadal. It is a massive week for Rafael Nadal as he aims to prove that he is going to be a major force this year. With Djokovic and Murray going out in the early rounds of the Sony Ericsson Open it is going to be largely down to Nadal to stop Federer from getting back to winning ways. Nadal was impressive in beating Kiefer in round three and will be looking to carry that on for the rest of the week. Check out the tournament Winner market, where Nadal is second favourite at current odds of around [5.5].
O is for Oxford. In miserable conditions on a murky day in South West London it was Oxford who prevailed in the 154th Boat race. A lively start and a brief mid-race charge from Cambridge were all quickly forgotten as Oxford overpowered their rivals for a comfortable win. Cambridge still lead the overall series 79-74 (one dead-heat) and will be hoping for revenge next year.
P is for Panesar. England came from one down to claim a hard fought 2-1 Test series win over New Zealand. It was Ryan Sidebottom who stole the show in the first innings but it was Monty Panesar who skittled the Kiwi's in the second innings as he claimed six wickets. England will now play host to New Zealand in a return series in May. The Test Series Winner market is already on site with England current favourites at around [1.31].
Q is for Quagliarella. Udinese star man Fabio Quagliarella was on the mark for his team in their 3-1 win over Fiorentina on Sunday. It was a crucial win for Udinese as they still chase the possibility of claiming fourth in Serie A. Fiorentina currently hold that position and are now just three points ahead. Check out all the latest markets for what promises to be an exciting conclusion to the Serie A season.
R is for Rhinos. In a repeat of last years Grand Final it was Leeds Rhinos that overcame a stubborn St Helens side at Knowsley Road. Leeds cemented their place at the top of Super League with a 14-10 win and it is going to be very hard to dislodge them. Check out the Grand Final Winner market if you think the Rhinos can maintain this form.
S is for Sebastian Loeb. In atrocious conditions it was legendary Sebastian Loeb that coped the best as he won yet another Rally of Argentina. That win secures a five point lead at the top of the WRC standings for Loeb. Keep an eye out for markets for the next Rally which takes place in the Middle East for the first time ever in just a few weeks time.
T is for Thomas Levet. Frenchman Thomas Levet came from an unlikely position to claim victory in the Valle Romano Open on Sunday. Three behind on the back nine it looked like young Englishman Oliver Fisher was just too far ahead but a bogey on the final hole from Fisher enabled Levet to take it to a play-off. Lever secured victory at the first extra hole as Fisher once again bogeyed the 18th. This week's European Tour event is the Estoril Open where the likely market leader is Charl Schwartzel.
U is for Unpredictable. Andres Romero is turning out to be something of an enigma. The Argentinean can have some shocking rounds of golf and not trouble the top of the leaderboard for weeks on end but when he is hot he is very hot. On Sunday he claimed his first PGA Tour win with an excellent final round in the Zurich Classic. It was enough for a one shot win over Peter Lonard, who bogeyed the 17th to throw his chances away. This weeks PGA Tour event is the Shell Houston Open, where Mickelson will start the likely favourite.
V is for Virender Sehwag. India's Virender Sehwag made the record books as he claimed the fastest triple century in Test history. His remarkable feat came during India's first Test against South Africa in Chennai as he passed the 300 mark off just 278 balls. The match was eventually drawn and the two teams will do battle once again on Thursday when the 2nd Test starts in Ahmedabad. Latest Match Odds prices suggest The Draw is once again the most likely result as it trades at just [2.16].
W is for Wasps. Just a week after the disappointment of losing to Leicester in the EDF Energy Cup semi-finals Wasps exacted some revenge. Inspired by Cipriani they beat Leicester 24-19 and just about keep alive their play-off hopes. With games in hand they can still make those play-offs and will be a danger to all should they achieve that. Check out the Outright Winner market where Wasps are currently available at [5.2].
X is for Xisco. Deportivo La Coruna were grateful to Xisco as he smashed home a hat-trick in their relegation battle with Murcia. Despite going a goal down early on Deportivo kept their composure to come back for what was a comfortable win in the end. Xisco's goals have fired them four points clear of the relegation zone but Murcia are now deep in trouble. For all the latest prices check out the La Liga Relegation market.
Y is for You Beauty. What a peach of a goal from the ever impressive Cristiano Ronaldo. With seemingly no way of getting a shot in he somehow manufactured a flick with enough power to score Man Utd's first goal in their four goal demolition of Aston Villa. It was a stunning performance from Utd and they will go into this week's Champions League full of confidence. They travel to Rome on Tuesday night for the first leg of their quarter-final tie and are currently trading at [2.68] in the Match Odds market.
Z is for Zzzzz. It was supposed to be the dawn of a new and exciting era under the legendary Fabio Capello. If Wednesday's performance against France is anything to go by then the only think true about the previous statement is that it is indeed new, but that won't last forever! In an increasingly tedious encounter it was Ribery's penalty that separated the two sides. England play the USA in May and the fans will be expecting more from their stars. Markets will be up for that a week prior to the match.
