Venus loves the green grass of Wimbledon and can eclipse Serena today, says Ben Caudell.
Venus Williams (USA) v Serena Williams (USA)
Today's final between the two Williams sisters is a repeat of the 2002, 2003, and 2008 finals, Serena won the 2002 and 2003 championships and Venus last year's showdown between the pair in straight sets.
Between them, these amazing sisters have 17 Grand Slam singles titles - 10 for Serena, two of them at Wimbledon, and seven for Venus, five of them earned here. The sisters have won nine of the Wimbledon singles titles on offer since 2000 cementing themselves as the greatest grass court players of their time.
The Williams sisters have met 20 times previously with the head-to-head series tied at 10-10, nine of these have gone to three sets and Serena took the latest showdown between the pair at this year's Miami Premier Event back in march.
The route into the finals has been relatively straightforward for both players bar Serena's titanic battle with Elena Dementieva where she saved a match point before eventually succeeding 8-6 in the third. In complete contrast, Venus' 6-0 6-1 win over Dinara Safina was the most lopsided win ever over a reigning world No.1.
Having won 36 sets in a row at the All England Club, Venus is trying to become the first player since Steffi Graf to win three straight Wimbledon Titles, she is looking supremely confident on her favourite surface and I won't be surprised at all if she were to achieve this remarkable feet.
Selection:
Back Venus Williams @ [1.67] to win match
Back Venus 2-1 @ [4.0]
Back over 23. Games @ [2.0]
