I've done it. Djokovic gets over the line and proves why he's been the best player in the world this year.
"But it’s not for nothing that the man they call the Serbinator has lost just one match all year and he won the fourth 6-3 to earn a place in the final, where he will play the winner of the Andy Murray v Rafael Nadal match."
Novak Djokovic's remarkable year got even better today as he beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in four sets to book his place in his first-ever Wimbledon final.
Novak Djokovic is in the Wimbledon final for the first time in his career after beating enigmatic Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 3-1 in today's first semi.
The match started in the worst possible way for the Serb, who was broken in his very first game as the pressure of the occasion seemed to get the better of him. The Australian Open champion went off at [1.5] but he was trading at [1.92] when Tsonga served for the set at 5-4. That's the biggest price he ever reached though because he broke Tsonga at that point and ended up winning the first set in a tie-break.
Djoko broke his opponent early on in the second and cruised to a 6-2 win but the Frenchman moved up a couple of gears late on in the third and with the crowd urging him on in the London sunshine, he pulled a set back. But it's not for nothing that the man they call the Serbinator has lost just one match all year and he won the fourth 6-3 to earn a place in the final, where he will play the winner of the Andy Murray v Rafael Nadal match.
Djokovic was matched at [46.0] to win 3-1 and currently trades at [2.2] to add the Wimbledon crown to his two Australian Open titles.
