History is made as Fed wins epic final against Roddick.
It took nearly four-and-a-half hours but eventually Roger Federer made history today with a record 15th grand slam win.
He was pushed the whole way - almost to his very limits - by Andy Roddick.
The duo produced the longest set in a Wimbledon singles final with the decider taking 30 games before going to Federer, 16-14.
Roddick will forever wonder what may have happened had he converted one of the four set points he held in the second set tie break - a point at which he traded at [1.58] on the exchange, a low in the match. With Federer facing a potential two set deficit, the Swiss was available at [2.72].
But it was to Roddick's immense credit that he came back from 2-1 down to take the fourth set to force that classic fifth.
