After a marathon tournament lasting a little over five hours, CLUDGIE emerged victorious in the June 14 UK Regional WSOPE Million Dollar Freeroll defeating Danni1986 after an exhausting heads-up battle and joins the eight other confirmed qualifiers in the live UK final later this year.
It could have turned out so different, however, when this hand came up at the start of the final table with blinds at 500/1000 (100).
With the action folded round to him, forum regular Doobs (4th in chips with 33k) made a standard raise from mid-position only to be met with a re-raise of 9,600 from the eventual winner (3rd in chips with 42k). With everybody else getting out the way, Doobs shoved the rest of his stack which CLUDGIE eventually called.

lukiladi (third in chips 42K) was the next to depart, once again at the hands of the eventual winner. making a standard raise UTG which was folded by everyone but Cludgie (chip leader 89k). The pair saw a flop of 10 7 9 rainbow. lukiladi's half pot bet holding A10 was met with a shove from Cludgie which was called by his opponent. lukiladi ran out of luck when a 4h fell on the turn leaving her drawing dead on the river. Cludgie up to 144k with his nearest rival THEPILCHARD on 46k.
Olga68 must have been feeling confident when checking in the big blind from two limpers and seeing a flop of 7x6x6x. Their pot size raise scared off one of the limpers only to meet resistance from THEPILCHARD. All of Olga68's chips eventually went in with thiir opponent tabling a pair of eight and the turn and river no help.
It was THEPILCHARD who caught in the winner's net next when possibly failing to bet big with big hands. His KK was flushed out by Cludgie on the turn and then there were four.
A short-stacked BIGMARK was the next to fall to Cludgie when his AQh proved inadequate against A10s when a 10 fell on the flop.
At three-handed it was a mini-battle of the short stacks with Cludgie sat with a huge chip lead. The key hand came when skyecat decided to attempt to steal the big blind of danni1986 with an all-in shove with A4 only for his opponent to wake up with pocket Aces.
Not long afterwards, a severly crippled skyecat tossed his remaining chips into the middle on a board reading 9

and was quickly called by Cludgie. Holding A

, his flush failed to materialise and was beaten by his opponent's 9

A long, and to be honest not very interesting heads-up battle ensued with Cludgie always on top and his gallant opponent Danni1886 hardly making any inroads into the huge chip lead.
Well done to Cludgie (Scottish slang for 'toilet', if you didn't know!) who will be joining the other UK satellite winners in the Live Regional Final later in the year.
