Along with over 25 bounties I have reached the final table five times from 45 games, finishing 8th, three fifth places and an outright win
Over the past week I have actually played some poker for a change, 50 MTTs to be exact and although I'm essentially break-even in terms of money I am pretty pleased with my progress.
The majority of the games I have played have been the $3.30 90-man knockout games on Full Tilt where the final table of nine are paid out. Along with over 25 bounties I have reached the final table five times from 45 games, finishing 8th, three fifth places and an outright win. I am still making a few mistakes, as became apparent when I spoke to the excellent Marcus Bateman but I am coming on in leaps and bounds in regard to tournament play.
Last night I thought I would try my arm at some large-field MTTs for a change of pace. One was a satellite where the one in four received entry to a higher buy-in tournament but I fell way short when I managed to push by 99 straight down the throat of a pair of kings! Three other tournaments came and went but I did manage to place 103 from 1,401 entrants in my final game of the night. Despite not even doubling my money in that particular tournament I was delighted to have gone so deep, especially as I was down to 3.5BB at one stage.
My trusty 14-year old Vectra went for its MOT yesterday and I was worried it was going to cost me a fortune to get it through. Whilst nothing seems overly wrong with it, and it's only done 79k miles, MOT time is always a worrying one for drivers. Mrs P and I decided that if it was going to cost a small fortune to get it through then we would just scrap it and spend the money on a different motor. Thankfully, all that was needed was £60 or so worth of work and I was told the rear tyres will need replacing in the near future so I can't moan really. Hopefully by next year I'll be in a better position to buy something a little newer.
Anyone who has kids, especially you readers who work from home, will know that this time of year is uber stressful as the brats are on their six-week holiday. I really need to get my backside into gear and get the majority of my work done early in the morning so I can take them somewhere and stop them from being bored. Over the course of the next month we have plans to go to Chester Zoo, the Safari park, Flamingo Land and possibly Alton Towers. Busy and expensive times ahead.
Last but not least I have a wedding to go to on Saturday, that of my little sister. It's all anyone has heard about over the past year and it has finally come around and in 48 hours she will become Mrs Burgess. It should be a great day for everyone involved and great to catch up with family and friends. I'm picking my suit up today so I'll try post some pictures after the weekend of my dressed up like a dog's dinner!
As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
