13:20 Kelso - LAY - Valentines Lady (Forecast - 3.0)
Today's race is the 13:20 at Kelso, it's a class 4 mares only novice hurdle over 2 mile 6 furlongs. Valentines Lady is forecast favourite, trained by K G Reverley and ridden by Phil Kinsella.
Valentines Lady won a very weak novice hurdle last time at Wetherby beating just 2 other finishers. That race was over 3 miles 1 furlong and this drop in trip today should see her get outpaced. She is a novice with a penalty, giving weight away all round.
Both career wins came at Wetherby and she may be a better horse on a galloping track. She was unplaced on her only previous course run when 5th of 13, getting outpaced in a race over 2 mile 7 furlongs.
Although she has won on soft ground and good-to-firm, this will be her first time racing on good-soft and there are no guarantees she will be effective on the surface.
There are quite a few Irish raiders being sent over for this race and it looks a tough race to call the winner, however I will be laying the one-paced wretch 'Valentines Lady'.
