Sir Boreas Hawk will fail to soar over the Wetherby hurdles

Today's race is the 15:15 Wetherby, it's a class 3 handicap hurdle over 2 miles. Sir Boreas Hawk is forecast favourite, trained by G Swinbank and ridden by Tom Greenall.

Sir Boreas Hawk has won 3 of his 5 races and has a 100% record over hurdles but at the end of the day, a rogue is a rogue and this horse is one of those.

After performing well in bumpers he won a novice hurdle comfortably last time on his hurdles debut over 2 miles and 3 furlongs. He drops down in trip today to 2 miles and this is not in his favour. He may need his first run for 257 days and has never won on ground faster than good. With the ground being forecast as good-to-firm then this surface may not be ideal unless the heavens open.

Sir Boreas Hawk is taking on battle-hardened handicappers today for the first time and he may struggle carrying top weight from a mark of 128. He may also be better on a sharp track. The Swinbank stable haven't had a winner over fences or hurdles since June with all 8 runners in the last 2 months being beaten.
