Weekend Racing: Paul Nicholls on his runners at Doncaster and Hereford

It's not all about Cheltenham on Saturday with good racing in Doncaster. Paul gives his thoughts on his chances up north and one in Hereford on Sunday. Update: Doncaster has been cancelled while Hereford has an 8:30 inspection tomorrow morning

Robinson Collonges: Probably one of my best three chances of the weekend, but it is very competitive racing and punters should bear that in mind. Another of mine to have missed an engagement at Haydock last week. Was really impressive when a wide-margin winner at Bangor and Hereford, and would probably have beaten Wishfull Thinking (whom he was giving 6lb and was a good second at Cheltenham subsequently) over 2m5f at Wincanton in November but for falling three out. Was given what I thought was a harsh handicap mark after those performances, but we took our chance at Cheltenham last time and he was still going well and in with a chance when making a bad mistake three out. Is hard to find races for horses like him at the moment, and he takes his chance over a shorter trip in this race - a race we won with Woolcombe Folly last year - but he doesn't lack pace, as he showed when travelling so well so before falling at Wincanton. Is in good form.

Pepe Simo: I won this race with a novice in Imsingingtheblues two years ago, and I think Pepe Simo has a fair chance here, too. Didn't make the ideal start to his chasing career when pulled up at Fontwell but has warmed to his task since, winning at Sandown, and then landing a Jumpers' Bumper before posting a much improved length second to Nadiya De La Vega at Kempton last time. In fact, he probably saw far too much daylight at Kempton. So a fast-run handicap, where he can get plenty of cover, on a flat track on good ground should really suit him. If he jumps sharply enough, I'm very hopeful.

Doncaster, 14:45
Join Together: Point to point winner who ran a blinder when third to Court In Action on his hurdling debut over 2m6f at Exeter. Was given a good ride by French jockey David Cottin when improving to finish second to Mossley at Cheltenham, but I actually think we could have made more use of him of that day. But I don't speak French, and David doesn't speak English - after going out with some of the girls at Ditcheat during his brief spell here, you would think he would have picked up a little bit of the language! - so that maybe didn't great through to the jockey. This is a horse I like a lot, and I think he has a good chance.

We won this with Big Fella Thanks two years ago and I run two here.
Fistral Beach: Is a much more confident horse since having a breathing operation in the summer and he didn't let me down on his first start since that op when winning at Wincanton - I thought he would win there from what he had been showing me at home. I have had this race in mind for him for a long time and he has been raised a fair 9lb from Wincanton. The only doubt in my mind is the trip - he finished second on his only start over 3m at Newbury in 2009 - but if he gets it well enough, then he will go close to winning this.
Take The Breeze: Improved to finish third at Aintree on his final start last season, and I got him primed to run at Ascot in October - some paddock watchers thought he looked a bit big there but he had done loads of work before that run, and he is a horse who always looks big and well. He ran really well at Ascot but just lost out by 1 ½ lengths after looking to set to win on the run-in. Will have very different conditions here than he would have at Haydock last week (that was a race I aimed him at after Ascot) and he has been raised 6lb for his last run. But it was good ground when he ran well at Aintree, and Ian takes a valuable 5lb off.

Hereford, 16:05
R De Rien Sivola: Has been off for 18 months, since finishing a short head second to Ogee over 2m4f at Bangor. Will need and improve for the run.
