Irish Horseracing Betting: Clonmel Preview
Big fields with open markets are the order of the day for Clonmel's mixed card this evening. As usual soft ground specialists will be fancied and with Clonmel's undulating track and stiff uphill finish, course and distance stats also come into play. John McDermott goes through the card at Clonmel.

The versatile Incline looks a solid bet to get the ball rolling this evening in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race. His last two victories have come at this level and soft to heavy ground will not pose a problem. He is stepping up in trip but has been finishing his races well and should handle the ten furlongs trip. Dermot Weld's Mutakarrim has been running in better company but hasn't visited the winner's enclosure in his last ten outings so I'm not willing to stake that he will break this sequence. Incline at [3.6] looks value enough to get the evening off to a good start.
Advice: Incline to win.

Silverhand has been performing at graded level over hurdles and with Declan McDonogh booked for the ride, is taken to score on his flat debut in the Rathronan Maiden. The current predicted SP is [3.8] which looks short enough but I'm struggling to find an alternative. Apt Son finished a decent second to Maal last time out at this trip and a repeat performance would see him in the frame so a TBP bet is advised. This isn't a race to wade in on but Noel Meade's yard love to have winners and usually perform well first time out so Silverhand is the choice.
Advice: Silverhand to win, Apt Son to place

Western Winner is this evening's nap to land the Demense Handicap with the excellent Chris Hayes on board. She ran well on yielding ground at Sligo finishing three lengths behind Jettymarc who won again two weeks ago at Wexford. Headford Lady looks the main danger but ground conditions may not suit and a place finish is the likely outcome for this Bold Fact filly. Western Winner currently trades at [5.4] which is going to shorten so get on early if you can.
Advice: Western Winner to win (NAP)

Havetoavit from the Willie Mullins stable has cost me a few bob recently but I'm not prepared to desert the son of Theatrical just yet. He wasn't far behind Kaitlins Joy at Bellewstown a week ago and the Mullins / Condon combination is taken to get to the bottom of this fellow. At [10.0] and [2.0] he is worth a small punt for win and place. The Tom Hogan pair of Molten Rock and Frutti Tutti are likely to dominate the market having battled it out for first and second at Sligo recently. Fran Berry takes the ride on Molten Rock which is significant and the money is likely to come for him. But I'm giving the Mullins gelding a last chance at the saloon to land the September Handicap.
Advice: Havetoavit to win and place

I really can't see past Conker Nails and Ruby Walsh in the Clonmel Handicap Hurdle. She fell last time out at Downpatrick when well fancied but a return to winning ways is predicted if her confidence isn't dented. She won at Downpatrick previous to that and with the Northern venue having a stiff uphill finish and undulating surface, Clonmel should suit the mare. Ruby has just the one ride this evening and isn't going for the good of his health as they say. Put the minimum bet on Maree Prince as Adrian Maguire is due another big priced winner soon. This one hasn't hit form for a while but at a likely [20.0] by the off, is worth a small punt.
Advice: Conker Nails to win, Maree Prince to win (min bet)

Youbetterbegood returned from a five month break to run well at Kilbeggan two weeks ago and should come on from that run. Heavy ground this evening shouldn't be a worry and the [8.0] currently available looks pretty generous. South Wing was brought down on his first venture over hurdles but will go close if he has learned the game. The [2.9] available makes no sense in a wide open race like this and he is more a lay at those odds than a back. So, it's Youbetterbegood to justify his name and score in the Comeragh Maiden Hurdle.
Advice: Youbetterbegood to win

I was all set to back Nina Carberry for the second evening running in the final race but I don't see Regal Warrior in the market so a late withdrawal may have occurred. If this is the case, I'd go for an early pint rather than invest here as there are a number of unexposed types who could be anything. The Tom Mullin's runner, Boro Dee looks well bred and could run well first time out. Market movers are the real sign here so stay close to the laptop for this one. A tentative bet on Boro Dee is the advice if pushed for a punt here.
Advice: Boro Dee to win
