Rangers' win over Celtic put them three points clear of Motherwell
"Motherwell haven’t toppled the Old Firm club in 35 attempts in all competitions, dating back to December 2002."
Rangers' Old Firm triumph might have only delayed the inevitable as far as Celtic are concerned, but it has at least stopped the rot for Ally McCoist's defiant Gers...
Motherwell v Rangers, Saturday 12:00, ESPN, Match odds: Motherwell [3.15], Rangers [2.32], The Draw [3.6]
Even in these troubled times, a trip to Fir Park should hold little fear for Rangers. Motherwell's record against the cash-strapped club is nothing short of atrocious. The Gers have won each of the last seven meetings between the sides, scoring 27 goals and conceding just three. Rangers' last three trips to Fir Park have ended in crushing 3-0, 5-0 and 4-1 victories for the visitors.
Incredibly, Motherwell haven't toppled the Old Firm club in 35 attempts in all competitions, dating back to December 2002.
The clubs are currently separated by just three points as they battle it out for second spot, and though Rangers might not enjoy the comprehensive win they are accustomed to, they should still get the better of Stuart McCall's side.
Rangers have won four of the last five domestic contests away from home, scoring four on three occasions. But Motherwell are no pushovers at home, where they have won their last five SPL clashes, scoring 14 goals in the process. Their recent form however is none too encouraging, having won just two of five fixtures in all competitions.
But the hosts should at least expect to score, seeing as Rangers have not kept a single clean sheet in their last seven encounters in league and cup. And Motherwell have now scored at least once in seven successive clashes in front of their own fans.
Each of the last eight meetings between the sides have contained at least three goals, five of which saw five or more goals fly in. Meanwhile, Rangers' last four SPL clashes have each produced over 2.5 goals. As for the hosts, prior to a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, the previous six clashes all saw three or more goals. Over 2.5 goals is available at [2.06].
Best Bet: Rangers to win @ [2.32]
Other Recommended Bet: Over 2.5 goals @ [2.06]
