John Carew's hat-trick destroyed Reading and sent Villa to Wembley
"Backers matched the Royals in to [1.24] but O'Neill got an immediate response from his men when they came out for the second period."
Villa fall behind before big Norwegian turns cup match on its head to fire his side back to Wembley. Meanwhile, favourites Chelsea dismiss Stoke at Stamford Bridge and Everton thump Hull.
Favourites Chelsea [2.12] will play Aston Villa [5.5] and Portsmouth [17.5] will meet either Tottenham [4.1] or Fulham [15.0] in the FA Cup semi-finals.
AVilla broke Reading's hearts with three goals in ten minutes as they came from two goals down to win their quarter-final 2-4.
Martin O'Neill's men reached the FA Cup semi-finals after drifting to [21.0] when 2-0 behind at half-time. Shane Long was on target twice for Reading, who were excellent in the first-half, outplayed Villa in every area of the field and sent O'Neill and his men in at the break beleagured and looking beaten. Backers matched the Royals in to [1.24] but O'Neill got an immediate response from his men when they came out for the second period.
Ashley Young fired his side back into the match from close range after Carlos Cuellar failed to connect with Stuart Downing's cut back. Reading were rattled and Downing was again instrumental when John Carew rose to head in his inswinging cross in the 51st minute. Six minutes later, the home side capitulated as the Norwegian striker flicked the ball into the net with the outside of his boot.
Reading never looked like coming back into the game and Carew sent the Villa fans wild - along with those who backed a hat-trick in the match at [48.0] - when he smashed home an injury time penalty.
The come back looks to have got their Carling Cup final defeat out of Villa's system and they will relish their return to Wembley for next month's semi-finals. They currently trade as [4.5] second favourites to win the cup.
Chelsea lead the market at [2.02] after sweeping aside Stoke at Stamford Bridge.
Despite impressive performances in previous rounds, Stoke failed to exploit Chelsea's recent defensive uncertainty and Frank Lampard put the home side ahead with a signature drive from 20 yards out. John Terry was delighted to get on the scoresheet in the second half when he headed Chelsea 2-0 in front.
In the Premier League, Everton condemned to Hull City to a miserable afternoon at Goodison Park.
The Toffees were 2-1 up at half-time but ran riot with a superlative second-half performance. Youngster Jack Rodwell scored his second of the season and Landon Donovan signed off in style in what could be his last game for Everton.
Hull are now trading at [1.85] in Betfair's relegation market.
