Three of the Big Four still in the FA Cup...
Despite all the talk of the big teams no longer taking the FA Cup seriously, three of the so-called Big Four remain in it with only Liverpool absent. Their conquerors, Everton, came close to being knocked out themselves as they drifted to odds of [6.2] on Betfair to beat Middlesbrough in 90 minutes after going a goal down at home. The 2-1 scoreline that saw the Toffees go through was matched at [23.0].
David Moyes' men will now face tournament favourites Manchester United in the semis and the layers are happy to offer odds of [9.0] about the 1995 champions after they drew the side that most feel was the one to avoid. Everton traded as high as 50 at the start of the competition. Manchester United are now into [2.48] and there will be plenty ready to take them on at that price as the fixture list builds up.
Chelsea are next in the betting at [3.55] and will play the winners of Hull v Arsenal. The Gunners' postponed match against Cardiff from a few weeks back means that their clash with tournament outsiders Hull City ([75.0]) is still a quarter-final match. Arsenal trade at [4.9] and looked impressive as they beat Burnley 3-0 with goals from youngster Vela, fit-again Eduardo and a late third from Eboue.
