"At the moment County are trading at [3.25] on Betfair to win the league whilst Bournemouth are seen as the biggest rivals at [6.2]."
Swedish FA confirm that Sven Goran Eriksson will not be making a return to his homeland following extensive talks about managing his national side.
On a good day for Notts County when their new owners have passed the FA's new 'fit and proper persons test' comes news that Sven Goran Eriksson will be carrying on as full time Director of Football at the League Two side.
The Swedish FA had earmarked Eriksson for the position of national team boss after Lars Lagerback stepped down following his failure to successfully guide them through their 2010 World Cup Qualifying Group. During extended talks with Lars-Ake Lagrell, Eriksson is believed to have expressed his desire to take up the role and had suggested combining both jobs. However, Notts County's Executive Chairman, Peter Trembling was determined that Eriksson was not to be allowed to take on other responsibilities.
"We wouldn't allow him to do both jobs, this is still a full time job at Notts County", insisted Trembling.
Sven was believed to be one of five to 10 potential names that the Swedish FA were looking at, as was current Fulham boss Roy Hodgson. The former Inter Milan manager also ruled himself out of the job hunt by pledging his future to the South West London side. Fulham are currently 12th in the Premier League and are trading at [2.92] on Betfair to beat Roma when they play on Thursday night in The Europa League.
Following the sacking of Ian McParland, County currently sit fifth in the Playoff spots in League Two and are six points behind league leaders Bournemouth. At the moment County are trading at [3.25] on Betfair to win the league with Bournemouth seen as the biggest rivals at [6.2].
Since the sacking of McParland last Monday, County have only played one game where they ground out a 0-0 draw away at Rotherham and are currently under the charge of caretaker managers, Michael Johnson and Dave Kevan.
Many names have already been mentioned as candidates for the Meadow Lane hot seat including Neil Warnock and Roberto Mancini despite Trembling saying that County will not rush their search for a new manager.
