"I still believe we can win promotion this season... I haven't heard anything about Mancini replacing McParland. But nothing would surprise me at this club."
Notts County midfielder describes shock as McParland is sacked and speculation mounts surrounding big name replacement...
Betfair backers remain confident that Notts County can win League Two despite the news that Ian McParland has been sacked as manager.
McParland has left the club after two years in charge, following last night's 2-2 draw against Torquay. County lie fifth in League Two but for their wealthy owners, who have unveiled ambitious plans to guide the club to the Premier League, only promotion will suffice.
Betting.Betfair columnist and County midfielder Ben Davies said: "I'm shocked. It's very dissappointing but this is what happens in football. The owners have made their decision and we have to get on with it."
Despite his dissappointment at the departure of the boss who signed him only four months ago, Davies shares Betfair backers' optimism: " I still believe we can win promotion this season. We're four points off the top, we've got a good squad but it takes time to gel."
Asked about rumours that former-Inter manager Roberto Mancini might be in the frame to replace McParland, Davies said: "Nothing would surprise me at this club."
Latest Betfair odds have Notts County available to back at [3.35] in the League Two winner market. Bournemouth, who currently occupy top spot are [6.6] as are third-placed Rotheram.
