Jack Midson is setting his sights high

"While Wimbledon [4.0] are a big price, Gillingham have to be layed. Terry Brown's visitors need points fast if they're to avoid becoming also-rans."

After a decent win Wimbledon are setting their sights high. Meanwhile, a tight game is expected at the Rec and Aidy Boothroyd's woes look set to continue, says Ian Lamont.

Gillingham [1.76] AFC Wimbledon [5.1] draw [3.85]

One win makes all the difference to confidence, evidently. No sooner had Jack Midson helped AFC Wimbledon to their first points in seven league games than he was talking about the play-offs. Steady on! Twelve points is a big leap to make up at this stage. The Dons face genuine promotion candidates Gillingham at Priestfield, no easy game despite a bit of a wobble by Andy Hessenthaler's men. The Gills have also lost Luke Rooney to Swindon, but he didn't want to sign a new deal anyway. Unfortunately, they're without ex-Don Danny Kedwell, a frequent scorer in recent months, and will have to rely on the goals of Jo Kouffour and Gavin Tomlin. I expect over 2.5 goals in this one, Wimbledon's new strike trio being eager to impress sooner rather than later. While Wimbledon [4.0] are a big price, Gillingham have to be layed. Terry Brown's visitors need points fast if they're to avoid becoming also-rans.

Recommended Bets
Lay Gillingham @ [1.76]
Back over 2.5 goals at [1.8]

Aldershot [2.74] Accrington [2.72] Draw [3.35]

When Accrington are smarting from a home defeat and scolded by their manager John Coleman, who demands far better from his players than they showed in a 3-0 defeat by Barnet, it is not a good time to play them - especially if six sides have beaten you at home already. Aldershot might just avoid that fate, but defeating Stanley, who have a staggering eight away draws - joint best in English football's top five tiers - will be really hard. The visitors' record indicates a first priority not to concede. The Shots don't concede that many at home, just 12 so far. A tight game beckons.

Recommended Bets
Back Aldershot and Accrington to draw @ [3.35]

Northampton [2.6] Barnet [2.82] draw [3.5]

The Cobblers demonstrated their vulnerability acutely last weekend, losing 5-2 having twice been ahead. That was against title-chasing Southend, but nonetheless it did confirm a terrible results trend. One win the previous week was their only three points in what is now 15 attempts. Barnet have not fared that much better, but at least took three wins in a row (including in the Cup) a few weeks ago and will want to match that after taking two more. Lawrie Sanchez will want more of his team to contribute goals - they rely too much on 15-strike man Izale McLeod. Ricky Holmes, Mark Hughes (no, not that one!) and Sam Deering chipped in at Accrington. Rather than lay the hosts, this is a chance for the big return generated via the away win.

Recommended Bet
Back Barnet @ [2.82]

Bradford [2.22] Burton [3.4] draw [3.5]

Bradford are tricky to call. Great one week, they can start losing again the next. Equally, Burton. So when the two teams clash you have to look for little signs. The Bantams had a great run - for them - of five wins and two draws from eight (including two FA Cup victories), but then a tight-looking defensive record fell apart at Rotherham and - less surprisingly - Watford. Morecambe, tough customers, were held to a draw last weekend. Luke Oliver, at 29, should have the experience from centre-back to lead his troops but doesn't always exude confidence. Burton continued a losing run last weekend at then bottom club Plymouth. Argyle who, by the way, should be layed for relegation if you haven't taken that advice already. They might be even better value after facing Crawley.

Recommended Bets
Back Bradford @ [2.22] to beat Burton
Lay Plymouth @ [2.0] for relegation
