Chris Powell’s Charlton look a ‘sensational’ price to beat Exeter on Saturday

"The price of [2.0] on Charlton this weekend looks sensational, given the Londoners' sublime record away from the Valley."

Fear not, League One expert Alan Dudman is in fine health despite falling from his chair when has saw Charlton's price to beat Exeter on Saturday. No prizes for guessing what Alan's best bet is then.

Chesterfield v Bournemouth, KO: Friday 19:45, Match Odds: Chesterfield [3.5], Bournemouth [2.26], The Draw [3.5]

Chesterfield still sit rock bottom of League One despite last weekend's 2-1 win against Colchester. Admittedly the Essex team are slightly fragile at the moment, but they showed a bit of belief despite being dragged all over the place at times. The Spirerites had been without a win since September 17th, so back to-back victories would seem unlikely.

Manager John Sheridan started wily fox Jack Lester against Colchester, whilst the switch of Liam Ridehalgh to left midfield worked brilliantly, not only with his engine but also his delivery. Chesterfield are the sort of team with a hard work ethic but a tendency to switch off and make a catastrophic mistake - which is why I couldn't trust them this Friday night.

And the fact that Bournemouth are in town makes me lean towards the visitors. The Cherries are within two points off the play-off places, unbeaten in six and decent away from home. Under Lee Bradbury they are starting to look a rather good side. Although they have scrapped and fought for their last two wins against Tranmere and Notts County (both times coming from behind), they have an excellent midfield who can prise open teams.

The south coast club have a real goal threat in Wes Thomas, and Bradbury will see this as a game they are capable of winning. It's also good to see 'Hollywood' Harry Arter influencing games, a player I saw in the Charlton youth team many years ago.

Back Bournemouth to beat Chesterfield @ [2.26]

Brentford v Wycombe, KO: Saturday 15:00, Match Odds: Brentford [1.82] Wycombe [5.0], The Draw [3.6]

I have been nibbling at some humble pie this week, a dish with a distinctly German feel to it. Last week I stated I wasn't sure of Uwe Rosler's philosophy, and was convinced his set-up at Huddersfield last Saturday was going to be defensive. How wrong I was.

The Bees came firing out of the blocks at the Galpharm and stormed into a 2-0 lead within 30 minutes playing some superb attacking football. Uwe - I apologise. However, they lost the game 3-2 and really should have closed out the match. The Londoners have been involved in a couple of dramatic games this term, remember they were 3-0 down to MK Dons in December and came back to earn a point.

If Brentford can attack Wycombe the way they set about Huddersfield then it should be a home win. Rosler played a bank of three in the midfield and I was most impressed with Jonathan Douglas, an excellent give-and-go midfielder who had a touch of the David Pizarro about him.

Wycombe landed a huge 3-0 win on Saturday against Rochdale, despite losing the services of former loan man Marcello Trotta. The Italian was a goalscoring sensation with eight goals in his short time at Adams Park, however the 19-year-old has returned to Fulham and has ruled out rejoining the Buckinghamshire club.

The problem with Gary Waddock's side this season has been their inability to back up good performances and results. And away from home they have only won twice.

Back Brentford to beat Wycombe @ [1.82]

Exeter v Charlton, KO: Saturday 15:00, Match Odds: Exeter [4.0] Charlton [2.0], The Draw [3.6]

The price of [2.0] on Charlton this weekend looks sensational, given the Londoners' sublime record away from the Valley. The Addicks have the best defence on their travels in the league, and they've also netted a huge 10 victories on the road.

Saturday's 1-0 win over Sheffield United strengthened their position at the top of the table with a seven point lead, and a mighty double over the Sheffield clubs successfully landed, with victory over Wednesday the previous weekend (again a hard fought 1-0 win). The Addicks incidentally were also the team that ended the mighty run of Huddersfield this term to earn another feather in the cap of boss Chris Powell.

Exeter have kept three clean sheets in a row and are unbeaten in four. The Grecians are also unbeaten at home in seven games, and have conceded just one goal this year (OK this month is less dramatic), and that was against Yeovil. This looks set up beautifully for an Under 2.5 Goals bet, and for the brave Under 1.5 Goals to trade In-Play. But Charlton are so strong defensively, the hosts will find it tough to breach their defensive line.

Back Charlton to beat Exeter @ [2.0]
Back Charlton 0-1 @ [8.0] & 0-2 @ [11.0] Correct Scores
Back Under 2.5 Goals @ [1.88]
