Rooney prepares to break City hearts
"The early trading for the Carline Cup final puts United as the [1.5] favourites to beat Aston Villa at Wembley in February. The Claret and Blues trade at [3.0]."
Manchester City denied at Old Trafford as Rooney leaves it late to steal headlines and set up a Wembley clash with Aston Villa
Manchester United own the bragging rights in the city once again.
Sir Alex Ferguson's men asserted their dominance over Manchester City with a 3-1 Carling Cup semi-final win that earns the Reds a shot at retaining the trophy.
The early trading puts United as the [1.5] favourites to beat Aston Villa at Wembley in February. The Claret and Blues trade at [3.0].
Wayne Rooney killed the City dream on a fluctuating night at Old Trafford. The home team looked to have done enough to make the final when they established a 2-0 lead midway through the second half. But a 76th minute Carlos Tevez effort swung the game back towards extra time and with seconds left on the clock that was where the game was going. Cue Rooney.
The England man is not tiring of writing the headlines this season and did so again here - he rose above the City defence to nail a 92nd minute header that sent the Old Trafford fans wild.
Wembley awaits.
