Michael Owen's goals have fired United through to the Carling Cup quarters
"United players, fans and staff will know they dodged a bullet when the Championship outfit were pulled out of the hat given the the presence of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City still in the competition."
Draw favours United as Liverpool go to Chelsea and Arsenal face Manchester City
Manchester United are clear favourites to win the Carling Cup after being handed a home draw against Crystal Palace for the quarter-finals.
United players, fans and staff will know they dodged a bullet when the Championship outfit were pulled out of the hat given the the presence of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City still in the competition.
And it will be two of those big names missing out after Chelsea were paired with Liverpool for a Stamford Bridge showdown and Arsenal were given a chance to put one over on Manchester City, who seem to delight in plucking the jewels from the north London club's crown.
City are second favourites at [3.9] with Chelsea available to back at [5.7]. Seven time League Cup champions Liverpool are [7.2] to lift the trophy with Arsenal the only other team in single figures at [8.4].
The fourth quarter-final sees Championship side Cardiff ([40.0]) host Steve Kean's struggling Blackburn ([14.0]. Palace are the rank outsiders at [80.0].
