Total Goals Guys
The Total Goals Guys: The goals in spain fall mainly in other games
One step forward two steps back as three or more fails to materialise in both North London and Mallorca.
One correct selection out of four at the weekend means we're back down beneath the £100 mark. The balance took a hit amounting to almost £50 and we have quite literally paid the price for backing three goals in a couple of games that cruelly finished one all.
Arsenal and Liverpool served up their 3rd 1-1 draw of the season on Saturday. Peter Crouch opened the scoring three minutes from the interval - a fine strike that was cancelled out by a Nicklas Bendtner header within nine minutes of the restart. We backed three goals or more at [2.45] and despite trading as low as [1.44] in-play there wasn't to be any further goal action.
Chelsea delivered for us on Saturday afternoon however with a 2-0 victory at The City of Manchester Stadium. We backed two goals or more at [1.46] and that price was not to last long for in-play backers after a Richard Dunne own goal opened the scoring after just six minutes. Salomon Kalou neatly added a second on 53 minutes after some fortuitous build up play involving Michael Essien.
At that stage we were a disappointing £10 for the weekend and with two games remaining things were about to get worse.
Mallorca and Real Madrid played out a highly entertaining one all draw on Saturday evening. Both teams looked threatening during the opening exchanges but a breakthrough didn't materialise until a Wesley Sneijder tap-in two minutes before the break. The hosts were looking dangerous, the league leaders were being torn apart slightly and Sergio Ramos saw red for a second bookable offence 66 minutes in. It took Mallorca no fewer than 6 minutes to capitalise on this, finding an exquisite equaliser through Borja Valero and it look liked Real might succumb to yet another defeat. It wasn't to be however and backing three goals or more at [1.87] proved not such a wise move.
All that was left to keep the weekend's losses to a minimum was Bayern Munich's home tie with Bochum. We were on a lay of 4 goals or more at [2.73] and although we never stated as such we regarded this as our "banker" of the four selections. Disaster struck after just 4 minutes however as the visitors took the lead through Azaouagh. At this stage you are expecting Bayern to at least draw level before probably going on to win the game. The equaliser came through Lucio but with just over a quarter of an hour remaining the match was locked at 1-1. The lay of 4 goals or more looked good but two late goals for the hosts through Ribery on 74' and Lell 2 minutes from time leave us with a bitter taste in our mouths this Monday.
We have come a long way recently and were probably due a hit but that doesn't make it any easier to stomach. We carry on with a relatively healthy £80.36 in the coffers...
