The Total Goals Guys talk us through their weekend selections
"Super Sunday" is a phrase used all too often by Sky Sports to describe that day of the weekend where we soldier up on the couch in front of the box after a late one to watch some not so super mid-table clashes. This Sunday certainly lives up to the billing however as Manchester United travel to Anfield and league-leaders Arsenal host Chelsea.
As a one-off we're going to spread 20% of our balance across both these games on a couple of backs on "overs". Around [1.46] is available for 2 goals or more on both these games and if we spread our cash over 2 bets of 2 or more and only 1 comes in we are on to a small loss. 3 or more sits at a rather tasty [2.38] on each fixture however and only one game bearing fruit turns in a small profit.
Rangers v Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday doesn't have the stature in the SPL fixture calendar it had one or two years ago but it's more than capable of throwing up an interesting tussle. Rangers are hurting from Wednesday night's home defeat to Lyon and the Jam Tarts have got to be the single most inconsistent side in the SPL this season. They have one or two players who can inflict damage at Ibrox but it all depends on which side turns up for the visitors. The earlier season fixture at Tyncastle was an explosive contest and seen The Gers go down 4-2 - more goals could be on the cards here and we are on 2 or more at [1.23] with a 20% stake of the bank (£13.54)
There's a clash of the titans in Spain also this weekend as Rangers Champions League group winners Barcelona travel to Valencia. [1.34] is available for 2 goals or more here and is worth taking on given both sides' recent defensive problems. Barca are awash with attacking talent but have won only once away from home all season. The host's home form is dreadful, they concede on average 2 goals a game at home season and new boss Koeman is already under pressure amid claims of a dressing room rift. Something surely has to give and that something should involve a goal or two hopefully.
Inverness Caledonian Thistle were once regarded as a bogey team for Celtic but the latter travel North on Sunday in a more relaxed frame of mind about this fixture. In truth the hosts have bothered Celtic's Old Firm rivals Rangers more of late and last upset the odds v Celtic with a 1-1 home draw in August 2006. Goals are never far away when these two meet and in the 13 ties played since they first met in October 2002 only 1 finished with fewer than two goals. The recommendation here is a back of 2 goals or more at [1.23]
With 2 goals or more sitting at only [1.22] in Real Madrid's home tie with Osasuna the temptation is there to go all out for a back of 3 or more at [1.7]. The current league leaders are averaging almost 3 goals a game at home whilst conceding an average of one. The visitors lie in 14th place and if the home side carry on their fine domestic home form we could be in for another high scoring encounter.
Unless stated otherwise 20% of the bank will be placed on each selection.
