Total Goals Guys
Back in Black: The Total Goals Guys are rockin'
After a storming week in which they didn't put a foot wrong, the Total Goals Guys are back in business!
It was Goals Galore at the weekend as we took our balance back into the black for the first time since 1st September 2007. Yes, it's been a long cold winter; but the money tree is blossoming in unison with the start of the British Summertime.
Regular readers will know that the sides we focus our attention on each week are The Old Firm, The Big Four in England, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich. There were at least 3 goals or more in each of these sides respective matches at the weekend just past so it was difficult to put a foot wrong and indeed we saw our betting bank rise by a remarkable 84% to £109.17.
We kicked off with a lay of 4 goals or more at Ibrox ([3.08]) where Hibernian were the visitors on Saturday. Darcheville found a way through for Rangers 5 minutes before half time but the opening period suggested we had made a good call. Indeed it took the hosts until 79th minute to double the lead through Novo and only a late Sheils consolation on 90' made the stoppage time a bit nervy.
Grand Slam Sunday delivered in style the following day. We encouraged punters to back us in a tactical double-back of 3 or more in both the English Premier Leagues showpiece matches for an overall profit should only 1 of these deliver and it paid off big time. Both were priced up at around [2.4] on Friday and touched [2.5] closer to kick-off.
It wasn't all plain sailing, though, and there was only a single goal in each of these games with 70 minutes on the clock. The openers came from the unlikely sources of Wes Brown for Manchester Utd on 34 minutes and Bacary Sagna for Arsenal on the hour mark. United were well in control of things at Old Trafford with a 1-0 lead over 10 men but they sealed the victory in style with goals on 79' and 81' from Ronaldo and Nani respectively. There was a similar late rush of goals at The Bridge as a Didier Drogba double on 73' and 82' to seal a Chelsea come-back that keeps their faint title hopes alive.
At this stage we would have been happy regardless of events at The Bernabau but sometimes when you are on a roll you can't help but pick out the winners. We backed 3 goals or more in this one ([1.92]) and a 5 goal thriller ensued in a match that delivered everything as Valencia took the lead, fell behind, and then went on to snatch a late victory.
It was our most successful weekend to date both in terms of the increase in our betting bank as a percentage and actual monetary increase. Interestingly the multiple price for all four of our selections was a mammoth [16.5] so to say it was unlikely that all four would come in wouldn't be too far off the mark.
In a bid to boost our bank we have been taking a bit of a risk each week with a fairly large chunk of our money. We were only prepared to do this whilst the balance was low and the staking plan ensured we could do so without completely wiping ourselves out. For the next couple of weeks we will probably be safeguarding at least 40% of the bank from exposure and avoid an almighty collapse.
The end of our season in punting terms will most probably coincide with the English Premier League so there are 7 weeks remaining in which to turn in a good profit for the season and ultimately reach our underlying goals.
9 weeks ago we were on £13.11 - we could easily have thrown in the towel or worse "stuck it on single". By refusing to and by sticking to our plan no matter how bad it got we have managed to turn it around.
Cynics will argue that our current profit level isn't anything to write home about and neither of us would argue. You would get a better, less risky, return from a high-street bank. But is a high street bank going to give you any of the excitement that Grand Slam Sunday served up in the total goals market?
