The Total Goals Guys talk us through this weekend's betting results
No matter how you play the soccer markets over the weekend no one is disappointed when they make 6 selections and all 6 bring home the money. Neither are we and particularly so when we stuck our neck out a little in backing 3 or more in two matches at the weekend.
Both Livepool and Rangers got things going for us early on Saturday. A back of 2 goals or more [1.25] in the Gers' away tie at the Falkirk Stadium was home and dry shortly before the half hour mark. Centre back Carlos Cuellar is fairly use full as a set-piece target and he's even more use full when you give him a free header at a corner 10 yards from goal. Darcheville followed up the Spaniards first half header with a second just after the break, netting Rangers 2nd in a 3-1 victory.
Two goals in Saturday's lunchtime fixture at St. James' Park looked tempting at [1.38]. On another day Fernando Torres would have taken care of this on his own as Liverpool ripped Newcastle apart in a convincing 3-0 victory. Gerrard's bullet of a free kick on 28 minutes was followed up at the beginning of the second half by a goal that should surely go to Dirk Kuyt's shin pad!
Bayern Munich v Wolfsburg was a poultry [1.03] for early backers of 1 goal or more and [1.18] was on the skinny side for 2 so naturally we're delighted to have snapped up the [1.55] on offer for 3 or more. The price for "overs" suggested it should have come in, the stats definitely hinted that it would and the match itself remained tight until Klose and Ribery but Bayern 2-0 up with goals either side of half time. A Wolfsburg consolation on 71' ensured a sweaty finish for the home fans, not for us though!
Backing 3 goals or more generally means you're going to be heading into the last half an hour of a match still in the dark as to whether its going to be your day or not. Such doubts were exempt from Celtic's 3-0 home win over Aberdeen as business was taken care of in the 49th minute of this contest. Scott McDonald followed up early strikes from Hesselink and McGeady to seal not only the victory but also the wise back of 3 goals or more at [1.6]
1 goal or more at the Emirates was [1.04] before kick on Saturday. We had a back of to in this one at a price of [1.19] and heading into the last 10' here we were resound to the thought of the "2 goal fortress" we spoke of on Friday being breached by a dogged Wigan side. It was another Arsenal late show however and goals on 83' and 85' from Gallas and then Rosicky saved our blushes as The Gunners ran out 2-0 winners.
Barcelona topped off our weekend with a 3-0 win at home to Recreativo on Saturday evening. We were on 2 goals or more at a price of [1.21] but it wasn't all plane sailing with the opener not coming until Milito's strike on 64th minute. The second came through a Krkic effort 2 minutes later however and a near perfect weekend was sealed.
The balance is up to £94.45 meaning we are still down £5.55 on our opening kitty. The bank has been doubled since our early season stumble however and we'll look for some steady growth between now and Xmas.
