Ben Davies: "Pressure is not a problem - we can win the league"

They may have lost at the weekend but things remain on the up at Meadow Lane and, in his second column for Betting.Betfair, Ben Davies provides an insight into the optimism and excitement at the club...

"I knew there would be a few high profile signings but I never imagined how high profile those signings would be! It’s fantastic to see the calibre of players the club has now attracted."

It's feel like a very long week since the last time I spoke to you, mainly due to our defeat at the weekend to Barnet. Any professional footballer will tell you, that after a defeat, all they want is for the next game to come and until that situation arises time passes slowly.

I'm enjoying every minute of my time at Notts County. Everything in and around the club seems to be going from strength to strength, mainly due to Munto Finance's investment in the club. The take over was waiting to go through when I had my initial meeting with the gaffer and his coaching staff. I was gob smacked at all the plans for the club. I knew there would be a few high profile signings but I never imagined how high profile those signings would be! It's fantastic to see the calibre of players the club has now attracted.

With publicity comes pressure. We are now favourites to win the league but I do not see pressure as a problem, as our objective for the season from day one was to win promotion. The gaffer has built a highly talented squad with some very experienced players and we will be doing everything in our powers to get to the next level.

Since joining the club I have played all across the midfield. My role is pretty similar to the one I had at Shrewsbury. You have to adapt certain aspects of your game to fit in to the style of any new team but our manager wants us to play passing football, which really suits my game.

There really is a great set of lads at Notts County and even though we have had a lot of new faces recently, the team spirit is fantastic. I already knew Graham "Spud" Lee from my time at Shrewsbury and I knew a few of the other lads from playing against them. Therefore, my first day was not like a first day at a new school.

It's international week but it does not affect our schedule and we have a home fixture against neighbours Burton Albion. My big Betfair bet this weekend is for the England fixture against Slovenia. I predict England will win 3-0, so Get on under 3.5 goals at [1.57], and for my final tip, I would bet England have a clean sheet at [1.12] - a price that reflects this.
