Super Bowl specials & prop bets

Grand Slam - Mahomes/Kelce/McCaffrey/Chiefs

Why not start with the big one - the Grand Slam market where you can name the players to have the most passing, receiving and rushing yards combined with which team to win.

These are all pretty obvious choices, apart from the Chiefs are narrow outsiders, but you'd expect Mahomes to outdo Purdy, and that Chiefs secondary makes me lean towards KC for receiving yards.

Kelce has 262 of them in these play-offs (second most), and logically if San Fran struggle through the air they'll lean heavily on McCaffrey. Lots of moving part here but this is the pick for me.

Back Mahomes (pass yds), Kelce (rec yds), McCaffrey (rush yds) & Chiefs to win @ 17/118.00

Any player to rush for 100 yards

Isiah Pacheco had just three 100 yard games this season, but the Niners allowed 318 rush yards in two play-off games, while the Chiefs allowed 4.5 yards per carry in the regular season and face Christian McCaffrey, who had seven 100-yard games and a further four in the 90s.

Any player to rush for 100 yards @ 10/111.91

Fred Warner most combined tackles

San Francisco 49ers Fred Warner.jpg

Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw will be crucial as the linebacker duo will have to try and stop the Chiefs run game and cover Travis Kelce across the middle. They'll make plenty of tackles but Warner usually makes more, and they'll have plenty of work to do so the 16/54.20 on him topping the tackle charts really appeals.

Back Fred Warner most combined tackles @ 16/54.20

Marquez Valdes-Scantling longest air yards reception

We're getting into Next Gen stats here, but this is basically who will catch the longest throw in the game, and we've got a 6/42.50 favourite Brandon Aiyuk to take on.

The Chiefs just don't give up too many big plays down field and MVS is more of a homerun hitter - he won't get the volume of targets that Aiyuk will, but when they come they're usually deep shots.

In these play-offs, Aiyuk caught six passes with an average of seven yards per target, while MVS had five catches with a 13.5-yard average. It only takes one of course, but with stats like that I'll happily take the 5/16.00 on MVS.

Valdes-Scantling longest air yards reception @ 5/16.00

Noah Gray +1.5 catches & +11.5 yards

The 'other' tight end on the Chiefs has landed this bet in 10 games this season, and has been more involved the last two play-off games as KC ran more two tight end sets, that gives him another chance of completing this modest double.

Back Noah Gray +1.5 receptions & +11.5 yards @ 1/12.00

Patrick Mahomes 40+ rushing yards

Thumbnail image for Patrick Mahomes Kansas City Chiefs.jpg

Want to guess who has the most post-season rushing yards in Chiefs history? Mahomes is a different animal in the play-offs and has run for over 40 yards five times in the post-season - including in last year's Super Bowl.

His three Super Bowl totals of 29, 33, 44 yards show he's not afraid to run, and considering one game he had a bad ankle and another he was being beaten up by Tampa Bay all night they're pretty impressive numbers.

Back Patrick Mahomes 40+ rushing yards @ 2/13.00

Kyle Juszczyk +4.5 receiving yards

His name's great for scrabble, his nickname "Juice" is fun (and easier) to say, and the full-back is a dependable pass catcher when called upon, which he will be.

He scored a TD in the first Super Bowl meeting between these two and had 33 yards against Detroit with two crucial catches

Back Kyle Juszczyk +4.5 receiving yards @ 5/61.84

Both teams to convert a fourth down

Neither team took on many fourth down chances this season, in fact San Francisco were bottom in that category, but to be fair that's because they mainly didn't have to.

This is the Super Bowl though, they'll both have to take a chance at some point, and both coaches have enough trickeration up their sleeves to convert.

Back both teams to convert a 4th down @ 5/23.50

Jake Moody to miss a field goal

You don't want to pick on the 49ers rookie, but he missed a field goal in both of their play-off games and in fact missed four kicks in his last four games.

The lights are brightest in the Super Bowl and that's where any nerves come through. You kind of hope it doesn't happen, for him, but for us we very much do.

Jake Moody to miss a field goal @ 2/13.00

Travis Kelce 100+ yards & a touchdown

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.jpg

We'll finish off with what's a good looking OddsBoost on the sportsbook for Taylor Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce to shine regardless of whether his other half makes it all the way from Japan for the big game or not.

Kelce's been incredible in the play-offs as this bet landed against the top defence in the league in Baltimore to help get KC here - and he also had 75 yards and two scores up in Buffalo.

He's had five 100-yard and a TD games in the play-offs, which is a magnificent effort, and in three Super Bowls he's scored in two and had 113 yards in the other - time to put it all together in Vegas.

Back Travis Kelce 100+ yards & a TD @ 5/16.00
