NFL Tipsheet: Mini previews and recommended bets for all Week 10 fixtures

Kansas City Chiefs are Luca's best bet to win on Sunday
Kansas City Chiefs are Luca's best bet to win on Sunday

With 8 out of 12 correct predictions this column turned a tidy profit last week. Luca Bercelli hopes to keep the winners flowing...

"Every week I back the Cards and every week they come up trumps. The fact that they're a well-balanced and well-coached team has seeped into the general consciousness (at last), and now that post-season incentives are tangible, I can only see this team getting better"

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday 18:00

If you want to see how the game should not be played then this is the match for you. Between them these two sides have lost their last nine games and it's just a question of who will stink up the joint the most. Don't forget however, that Atlanta actually played pretty well at Wembley in their most recent outing, and have got a a good performance in them...I don't think Tampa have.

Recommended Bet
Back the Atlanta Falcons to win @ 1.84/5

Dallas Cowboys @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday 18:00

Dallas' back-up QB Brandon Weeden looked horrible in relief of an injured Tony Romo in last week's loss against Arizona; but luckily for him if he plays, and he probably will, this time he'll face one of the worst defenses in the league rather than one of the best. I like the ten-gallon hat brigade's chances of covering what should be a spread of about 7.5pts.

Recomended Bet
Back the Dallas Cowboys -7.5pts @ 2.01/1
(at a guess)

Kansas City Chiefs @ Buffalo Bills
Sunday 18:00

As the line suggests this should be a tight affair, but I have to go with the Chiefs who are looking for W number four in a row, and have some wins from earlier in the season that have acquired a real sheen in lieu of recent results. A 34-15 spanking of Miami and a crushing 41-14 win over New England are stunning results and any team that can produce that sort of quality should prevail over a solid but not exceptional Bills.

Recommended Bet
Back the Kansas City Chiefs @ 1.910/11 Best Bet

Miami Dolphins @ Detroit Lions
Sunday 18:00

Detroit are going to need more than the likely return of Megatron to scare the rampant Dolphins at Ford Field. The Lions actually have the better record but Miami are improving at such a rate that I give them a shout against anyone. Tannehill's scrambling ability gives them an added dimension that is almost impossible to bottle up. I'm all over them +3.5pts.

Recommended Bet
Back the Miami Dolphins +3.5pts @ 1.758/11

Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Jets
Sunday 18:00

One of these days the Jets might actually win a game, but it's pretty unlikely to be against the surging Steelers. The points spread seems plain daft with Pittsburgh giving up only a minimal 4.5pts but we cleaned up last week on a total points over bet reasoning that gang green would give up points galore but were more potent under Michael Vick. Should be a similar story here.

Recommended Bet
Back over 45.5pts @ 2.01/1

San Francisco 49ers @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday 18:00

If you're a momentum freak the Saints will be an easy pick for you here. They've turned their season around with convincing victories over Green Bay and Carolina, whereas the Niners have failed to build on their excellent start to the campaign. They won't be winning the Superbowl but a 4.5pts start against the Saints is an early Christmas present. Tuck in.

Recommended Bet
Back the San Francisco 49ers +4.5pts @ 2.111/10

Tennessee Titans @ Baltimore Ravens
Sunday 18:00

This is going to go to the Ravens who will be delighted to be facing such poor opposition after taking a beating from the Steelers last week. Will Tennessee be able to run the ball at all against a good Ravens' run defense. I doubt it, and as we all know, if you have no running game, your offense is a sitting duck, especially one led by a rookie QB. The 9.5pts spread is a bit punchy for me so I'll take the over 44.5pts hoping that a pass-heavy game will deliver points.

Recommended Bet
Back over 44.5pts @ 2.111/10

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday 21:05

If you don't worship at the feet of Peyton Manning, most NFL fans think you're mad. Well I don't and I'm not. Yeah, he's got a couple of stats in his back pocket, but if you've got a great supporting cast around you, and he always has, then things are a lot simpler. I mean, I'd fancy Iron Mike Carlson to make things competitive with Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas, Wes Welker and Emmanuel Sanders to aim at. I'll oppose him later on in the season, but this week with poor opposition and a point to prove, I just can't do it.

Recommended Bet
Back the Denver Broncos -11.5pts @ 2.1511/10

New York Giants @ Seattle Seahawks
Sunday 21:25

The Seahawks' home advantage, several players returning from injury and improved form in recent weeks all add up to what could be a long night for the slumping Giants. Hawks QB Russell Wilson, however, has not been his normal self in recent weeks so will be more keen on a W than anything spectacular and for that reason I can see this one going to the wire.

Recommended Bet
Back the New York Giants +9.5pts @ 2.01/1

St Louis Rams @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday 21:25

Every week I back the Cards and every week they come up trumps. The fact that they're a well-balanced and well-coached team has seeped into the general consciousness (at last), and now that post-season incentives are tangible, I can only see this team getting better.

Recommended Bets
Back the Arizona Cardinals -7.5pts @ 2.255/4

Chicago Bears @ Green Bay Packers
Monday 01:30

Tough one. I'm not sure whether the injury Aaron Rodgers picked up against the Saints (tight hamstring) is something that's going to go away completely in a couple of weeks. It certainly affected him in that loss, and even if only psychologically, it could have an impact here. Chicago have disappointed all season, but a crucial defensive player for them (safety Chris Conte) should be back so I'll take them to keep it within a touchdown.

Recommended Bet
Back the Chicago Bears +7.5pts @ 1.9520/21

Carolina Panthers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Tuesday 01:30

I've stuck more pins in my Mark Sanchez doll than Vince Wilfork has had hot dinners. The reason for this strange behaviour? I had to endure week after week of awful quarterback play as a Jets fan when the Sanchize dragged us down into the mire. Talk about short memories! One half-decent outing (including don't forget, two interceptions), and all of a sudden footy fans and writers think that Mr Butt Fumble is the answer. WRONG. You'll see, and it won't take long.

Recommended Bet
Back the Carolina Panthers +9.5pts @ 1.728/11 (Sportsbook)
