NFL Tipsheet: Mini previews and recommended bets for all Week 14 fixtures

Luca fancies the Seahawks to beat the Eagles on Sunday
Luca fancies the Seahawks to beat the Eagles on Sunday

This column got back on track with a 9-4 record last week. Luca Bercelli gives it his best shot once again...

"They seem to have all their Superbowl-winning fire back in their bellies, and with Russell Wilson matching up well against the aggressive Eagles' D, Richard Sherman and the gang should take care of business on the other side."

Baltimore Ravens @ Miami Dolphins
Sunday 18:00

I'm a convert to Ryan Tannehill this season. Miami's quarterback has ironed out a lot of the flaws in his game and utilised his great mobility all season. That 7-5 record didn't happen by chance, but then again, nor did Baltimore's. The market has this one pretty much spot on but I love Miami's pass defense, and they just might engineer the win.

Recommended Bet
Back the Miami Dolphins to win @ 1.748/11

Carolina Panthers @ New Orleans Saints
Sunday 18:00

Drew Brees got back into his Bourbon St groove last week, passing for 257 yards and five touchdowns in a wild win against the Steelers. That performance doesn't mask what's been a disappointing season so I'm reluctant to get involved at -10.0pts, especially since they've lost their last three at home. I'd swerve this one if I was you but if you're on the chasey chase, try the Panthers with the points.

Recommended Bet
Back the Carolina Panthers +10.0pts @ 2.111/10

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday 18:00

The Jags killed me last week; coming back from 21-0 to beat the Giants and nutting the last leg in my monster accumulator in the process. No matter, they're going to get spanked here and I'll be on board recouping losses as I go...I hope. J.J. Watt and the rampaging Texans burst into town this week; and the Jags better get a cart ready for rookie QB Blake Bortles because 'Sacks will happen'. Minus 4.5pts is a joke.

Recommended Bet
Back the Houston Texans -4.5pts @ 1.910/11

Indianapolis Colts @ Cleveland Browns
Sunday 18:00

Johnny Football surprisingly gets to warm the bench yet again as Brian Hoyer Starts for Cleveland. Surprising and wrong...yet he shouldn't be too disappointed because this is a game the Browns won't be winning whoever takes the snaps. The monster that is Andrew Luck will be orchestrating affairs on the other side of the ball and with him at the helm, a big fat W is headed to Indy.

Recommended Bet
Back the Indianapolis Colts to win @ 1.558/15

New York Giants @ Tennessee Titans
Sunday 18:00

The Shitans take on the midgets in what should be called the Bye Bye Bowl. Bye Bye that is to two coaches at the end of the season: both Ken Whisenhunt and Tom Coughlin seem destined for the scrap heap after guiding their teams to hideous seasons. The only ray of light on both rosters is Cirque du Soleil wannabee wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. What a superstar for the Giants...he wins this one for them single-handedly.

Recommended Bet
Back the New York Giants to win @ 2.01/1

New York Jets @ Minnesota Vikings
Sunday 18:00

I thought Rex Ryan was going to burst out crying last week after another heartbreaking defeat; and if he had that would've made two of us. The team are still playing hard for their leader, but the whole world seems to be against them at the moment. The rest of the season is all about evaluating the playing staff, starting with Geno at quarterback. His stock is lower than Atlantis and will drop off the chart after he gets stuffed by the Viking's excellent defense.

Recommended Bet
Back the Minnesota Vikings to win @ 1.434/9

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnatti Bengals
Sunday 18:00

This is an inter-divisional tear-up that I love the look of, especially after checking out the total points line. Both teams are free-scoring and have only dipped under the 20 point mark four times each, all season. Unless Carrot Top has one of his dopey days and goes to sleep, this is a nice looking bet.

Recommended Bet
Back over 47.0pts @ 2.01/1

St Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins
Sunday 18:00

Colt McCoy already seems an improvement on RG III (please don't come to the Jets Bobby) for the Skins, but the Rams will be cock-a-hoop after their cricket score against Oakland (52-0) last week. With so much offensive power and up against an outfit with zero confidence, St Louis are a solid bet. Go large.

Recommended Bet
Back the St Louis Rams -2.5pts @ 1.910/11

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Detroit Lions
Sunday 18:00

It's not showing in their win to loss ratio but the Bucs are making steady progress. They've hung around all the way to the wire in their last six games, but come up against a Detroit side with a lot to play for and a transformer right back to his best. It won't be easy for the pirates but I'll take the points and hope they can frustrate Detroit.

Recommended Bet
Back the Tampa Bay Buccanneers +10.0pts @ 1.9520/21

Buffalo Bills @ Denver Broncos
Sunday 21:05

I've been waiting for my chance to pounce on Peyton Manning all season and this looks like the perfect opportunity. I thought he was awful last week against the Chiefs, but no one seemed to notice or care, because it made no impact on the result. He threw for a season-low 179 yards and went 17-34, but it wasn't the stats that underwhelmed me; it was more the fact that he threw lame ducks for fun. He wasn't just missing receivers, he was missing the pitch! I might look stupid after this (what's new) but the mortgage is on the Bills +10pts.

Recommended Bet
Back the Buffalo Bills +10.0pts @ 1.9520/21

Kansas City Chiefs @ Arizona Cardinals
Sunday 21:05

The Cardinals' party is well and truly over, but it's such a shame that four crucial injuries have whacked their season in the nuts. First it was quarterback Carson Palmer (out for the season), then it was Larry Fitzgerald (sprained knee), Tyrann Mathieu (busted thumb), and then the hammer blow, Andre Ellington forced to miss most of last week's loss with a 'severe hip-pointer', whatever that is. Without him they have no offense so go low on the points.

Recommended Bet
Back under 40pts @ 1.991/1

San Francisco 49ers @ Oakland Raiders
Sunday 21:25

Not a local derby to get too excited about...on the pitch at least. Behind the scenes it's a riot, with the daughter of 49ers' general manager Trent Baalke airing her old man's opinion of his offensive coordinator via Twitter. "Greg Roman can take a hike...the 49ers don't want you no more". Excellent stuff and as good a reason as any to cheer them on to what will undoubtedly be an easy win.

Recommended Bet
Back the San Francisco 49ers -7.5pts @ 1.981/1

Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday 21:25

The Sanchize is in big, big trouble in this one. He's going to have to do a bit more than hand the ball off and admire his defense against the revitalised Seahawks. They seem to have all their Superbowl-winning fire back in their bellies, and with Russell Wilson matching up well against the aggressive Eagles' D, Richard Sherman and the gang should take care of business on the other side. What price a 'Butt-fumble' sequel?

Recommended Bet
Back the Seattle Seahawks to win @ 2.0811/10 Best Bet

New England Patriots @ San Diego Chargers
Monday 01:30

The Pats did themselves proud in a loss against the Cheeseheads last week, but will get back on track here against the Chargers. I don't think it'll even be close, so -3.5pts is a red betting slip to a punting mad bull. New England are just better in all departments.

Recommended Bet
Back the New England Patriots -3.5pts

Atlanta Falcons @ Green Bay Packers
Tuesday 01:30

This is my least favourite game of the week from a punting angle. The Pack have a significant home field advantage and should hose up, but I don't like -11.5pts against a team that has decent offensive firepower. I'm whispering 'no bet' but I'm actually saying 'Back the Pack'.

Recommended Bet
Back the Green Bay Packers -11.5pts @ 2.166/5
