Bart Barden has landed four winners from six bets to build a handsome NFL profit and offers up another trio for week three, starting with Washington's trip to New York and finishing with Detroit's home clash with Denver...
"The Denver defense is playing at a high level, and the once vaunted Detroit offense has been spluttering like a Volkswagen diesel engine of late. Both teams are going to try and establish the run in this game, but only Denver will be able to do this successfully."
Another week, another two wins, but unlike last week, the week 2 picks were basically in the bag at halftime of both games. Chicago proved me correct by giving up 2 ST/Defensive touchdowns and the Saints played god awful and actually lost the game, and with it many survivor pool win hopes. On to week three!
Washington Redskins @ New York Giants
The G-men are fresh off a pair of disappointing losses where they were not able to hold a lead. Their secondary is sub-par and they have a weak pash rush. Washington ran the ball well last week, and NYG are going to have to respect this and line up eight in the box to stop the run. This opens the door for the play-action pass, which Kirk Cousins has shown the ability to execute well over his career. Without a pure cover corner, there will be many open receivers downfield for the Washington passing game. This bet also covers a scenario by which the NYG offense gets hot and force WAS into a throwing game to play catch up. In either scenario Cousins will be given opportunities for big play yards, favouring the overs total.
Indianapolis Colts @ Tennessee Titans
Do not slip on Andrew Luck this week. He has been frustrated in the first two games by good defensive teams, but Tennessee are not that. In fact, the Titans still have one of the worst ELO ratings in the league. Indy know they need a win, and importantly a division win, which this is. Luck will have his A-game going and Indy will most likely score more than 35 points on their own. Tennessee have a few weapons and Mariota will make sure they put up a fight at home. It will be too little too late, but will be enough to push the total score most likely over 50.
Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions
The Denver defense is playing at a high level, and the once vaunted Detroit offense has been spluttering like a Volkswagen diesel engine of late. Both teams are going to try and establish the run in this game, but only Denver will be able to do this successfully. Either way Peyton Manning will manage the game and avoid turnovers on the road resulting in a *ground and pound* type of affair which is favourable for the Under, as long as special teams don't give up big plays.
