Bart Barden put up a pair of winning bets from his trio of week one selections and he has another three wagers for you as the NFL show rumbles on this weekend
"Both Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler are healthy, but are two of the highest turned over QBs in the league and turnovers lead to more points."
I was a respectable two for three with my picks last week, with Tony "Heart Attack" Romo pulling out a last minute touchdown to push the game over on Sunday night. Mark my words I will not pick for or against the Raiders for the rest of the year. They are just too inconsistent. Denver pulled out a victory, although Peyton Manning looks worse than I joked about in my last column. I really can throw the ball further than him now. They are going to have all sorts of issues tonight with KC. On to week two...
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints
2pts Back Tampa Bay +10pts @ 1.845/6 on the Exchange
This is division rivalry game and although five years ago these were both playoff contender teams, they still play each other tough and both will come out chippy, given each of them crapped their pants in week 1. New Orleans are the better team, with an all-pro quarterback in Drew Brees, but he does not have the supporting cast these days. Jimmy Graham (now with the Hawks) was a Tampa Bay killer in his Saints' days, but Brees will have to find other weapons in this game. The chances of a Tampa Bay win are very low, but I expect the Bucs coaching staff to circle the wagons, have the defense fired up and lose by less than a touchdown. Make sure to get a handicap of 10 or 10.5 for that important two-score hook.
Arizona Cardinals @ Chicago Bears
2pts Back Over 45.5pts @ 1.910/11 on the Sportsbook
It looks to be a nice fall day in Chicago for a game between two teams that have above average offenses and below average defenses. Both Carson Palmer and Jay Cutler are healthy, but are two of the highest turned over QBs in the league and turnovers lead to more points. Matt Forte looks like an absolute beast this year and also has the breakaway speed to score quickly on big runs. Both teams like a balanced attack but use the pass to open up the run so expect an above average amount of snaps per team this week. If you can get a good price at 45 or 44.5 take it as this drops the total number of scores down to 7.
Saint Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins
1pt Back Over 41pts @ 1.9310/11 on the Exchange
Same as the Bears game, the weather is forecast to be wonderful and the Redskins put up more points at home than on the road. Kirk Cousins is a turnover machine which will set up easy point opportunities for St Louis. The Rams have an amazing front 7, but are suspect in the secondary. Last week Russell Wilson and the Seahawks did not exploit the soft coverage (playing off receivers +10 yards) that the Rams executed against them, but Jay Gruden and the Skins will be ready for this. Expect long sustained drives for both teams in this game, and if the red zone efficiencies for each team is average, the game will go over 41. Again look for value at 40.5 if you can find it, as this could very well be a 21-20 game.
